Verizon rolls out Denim update to Lumia 822, 928, and Icon

19 December, 2014

Over the last few days, Microsoft has finally started the rollout of its Lumia Denim update for Windows Phone 8.1 devices. First this happened in China, then followed by Europe and India. And now the new software is reaching the US, but only if your Lumia smartphone was bought from Verizon.

The carrier and the software giant announced that Lumia Denim is now in the process of making it to the Nokia Lumia 822 and Lumia 928, while the Lumia Icon will follow "in early 2015".

Interestingly, this means that the aforementioned Verizon-branded handsets will skip the Lumia Cyan update altogether (which they haven't received), and go straight to Denim.

The Lumia Denim update for Verizon comes with Consumer VPN for better security, Live Folders, Cortana, many upgrades for the Camera app, and there are probably some bug fixes in there too.
