3GSM Barcelona 2006 live coverage

GSMArena team, 12-16 February 2006.

Sharp is producing GSM phones exclusively in cooperation with Vodafone. The Sharp phones are usually more expensive than the competition, but they also are wining in the camera quality comparisons. At the 3GSM Congress they showed their new phones.

Sharp GX29

The Sharp GX29 was presented with its 1.9" QVGA display and VGA only camera. It will go for a slim clamshell and is yet another Vodafone model. Looking at the specs, we expect this time an affordable clamshell from Sharp.

Sharp 550SH

The 550SH bar is based on the same platform, but for the 3G networks. The phone has the same high-quality display as the GX29, but more advanced features. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera on the back of it and another one on the front for video conversations. The 550SH has a microSD card slot and can be used as a MP3 player.

Sharp GX40

We also noticed the Sharp GX40 clamshell on the stand. The Sharp representative told us this is an old model, but we haven't seen this phone before. The tri-band GX40 has 2.0" QVGA display, 1.3 megapixel camera and miniSD card slots.
