8" Micromax Canvas Tab P666 tablet has an aluminum frame

02 February, 2015

Micromax unveiled an Intel Atom-powered version of the Canvas Tab tablet. The tablet is build out of aluminum and glass and measures 7.9mm thick, it packs an 8" IPS display with 1,280 x 800px resolution. The new Micromax Canvas Tab carries the model number P666, to separate it from the P650, which uses a Cortex-A7 based chipset.

There's more than the chipset though – the new tablet is thinner (7.9mm vs. 9.6mm) and has a sharper screen (189ppi vs. 160ppi). It launches with a newer version of Android too – 4.4 KitKat – though the internal storage is just 8GB (there's a microSD card slot). RAM is 1GB.

The Canvas Tab P666 has a 5MP/1080p main camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The battery has 4,400mAh capacity, which doesn’t sound like much – it lasts 6 hours of browsing time, 7 hours of video playback and 15 hours of talk time.

That's right, the tablet features 3G connectivity (HSPA 21Mbps) with voice call support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. It will be available in Magnetic Black and Puritan White.

The Micromax Canvas Tab P666 is available in India for INR 11,000 ($180/&eur;160).
