Is there anything I can't do (now or eventually) because of it not being updated?

Anyone knows if it's possible to install LineageOS on this beauty or open the bootloader nowadays for burning a updated ROM?

To those who have only 6gb RAM version on this device, if you feel not enough, you can simply expand more with virtual RAM.

Install the RAM swap app no root needed.

Expand the RAM as your preference.

I expanded with an extra 6gb, my mate 20 X now has a total of 12gb RAM comprising 6gb onboard and 6gb virtual RAM.

I can tell you it is effective, fast, responsive and worked very well, All applications are running smoothly without lagging at one go.

Of course you can set beyond 6gb if you wish more, but do take note that the virtual RAM spaces are actually taken from your physical storage capacity, which means if you have enough space to keep all all your files you can preceed to set at a higher value.

But i feel 12gb RAM is pretty good enough.

Had this phone for six years now, and still in great condition and thr battery life is still pretty good. Although i use it as a back up phone along with my s4 ultra. I wont be fetting rid of this since this was my biggest phablet without the fold trend. The quality amazes me that it still up and running, or maybe im just OC when it comes to my phone.

one of the best phones ever. he never disappointed me. After 5 years of use, today I sadly had to replace it with a Samsung S24 Ultra. Too bad it wasn't supported longer

I love this phone, but I have a weird issue: whenever I turn it sideways to watch a video in landscape, the phone automatically adds a colour/vivid like effect to the screen? I can't seem to switch it off amd it's quite annoying at times!

It's the same on my friend's 5g version too... so is this a common "thing" on Huawei phones - or is there a way to turn it off?

Anyone knows whats the latest emui version of the phone and where can it be downloaded?

I have been using since 2020.

But im still holding on to my mate 20x, its still running fantastic. Already sold off my asus rog 5s pro piece of crap and got my rog 8 pro, but media entertainment wise, browsing, netflix etc id still revert back to this beast. Photography and gaming rog 8 pro does better in that aspect. But this beast is no slouch after all these years. Couple of days ago i updated pubg and used the g2 betop controller, i must say it was an enjoyable 1½ hrs of game time. Huge screen, dual speakers still loud, kirin 980 isnt sweating at 60fps.

I really love this phone.. It's still working perfectly in 2024 with a full day battery.. I keep searching for something near the all in one mate 20x in 2024 with the same budget but i can't find anything same as Huawei..

What's wrong with huawei!! Why don't they make beast like this anymore come on.. Well it's my second review and I'm having two at a time as my daily driver. Just love these❤️

For a "portable multi-media device" though, this seems ideal... a nice big screen, headphone jack and proper dual speakers 👌.

For the fact that comments are still running strong here for a 6 year old phone just goes to show this phone was made before its time and made to last long =D mate 20x cult!

Mine was listed as new. Bought back in 2021. Abt 3 years now of usage. Everything is still going strong, still very much relevant in 2024 that i will be selling my asus rog phone 5s pro and keep a 2018 released phone instead.

Its still a perfect daily driver dont get me wrong (minus the 5g and again, camera setup that cant match to 2024 ones sadly) only reason i made it my secondary phone because i believe the asus rog phone 8 pro that i purchased has the upper hand on beyond 60fps games... but! everything else, its a wonderful phone. I paired the beast with a g2 betop gaming controllers, it still runs smooth for 60fps games with large screen and loud dual speakers.
