Sony Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI official renders leak

Vlad, 03 May 2024

A few hours ago a comprehensive leak detailed the upcoming Sony Xperia 1 VI's specs, and now a bunch of official-looking renders of the phone have been outed, showing a design that's unsurprisingly very reminiscent of the Xperia 1 V from last year, but with the new and oft-rumored screen aspect ratio change (it's less tall and more wide this time around).

The Xperia 1 VI still has bigger 'forehead' and 'chin' bezels as you can see, which means there's no need for a hole-punch cutout up top to house the selfie camera. The phone is expected to be available in the two colorways shown in these images, although their official marketing names aren't known yet.

The screen is flat, and there's nothing on the left side, but the right side contains the power button which will double as a fingerprint scanner, the volume buttons, and the camera shutter key. Sony will be offering an official kickstand case for the Xperia 1 VI.

According to previously leaked specs, it should come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 12/16GB of RAM, a triple rear camera setup with a 16mm ultrawide, a 24mm main camera, and an 85-170mm periscope telephoto zoom camera. It will have a 5,000 mAh battery. The screen's new aspect ratio is 19.5:9, and it will have 120 Hz refresh rate and 240 Hz touch sampling rate.

Moving on to the Xperia 10 VI, this will be Sony's mid-ranger for 2024, and it might become official alongside the Xperia 1 VI at the company's upcoming launch event on May 17. It comes with only two rear cameras, compared to its predecessor's three, and the leaked promotional materials make it clear that the dedicated telephoto camera is the one that was removed. So you're getting only the main camera and an ultrawide.

While it has an overall similar design to the Xperia 10 V, there are more subtle tweaks here than in the case of the Xperia 1 VI. The 10 VI looks more modern and playful, with its camera island that seems to organically rise from the back plate. It will come in three colors as you can see. The front side seems indistinguishable from the Xperia 10 V, with the 'forehead' and 'chin' bezels still being substantially bigger than those in the Xperia 1 V and 1 VI.

Sony will also offer the kickstand case for the Xperia 10 VI, and the phone retains the 3.5 mm headphone jack just like the Xperia 1 VI.

The 10 VI has been rumored to get 6/8GB of RAM. Unfortunately no other details about this phone have been leaked, but if it is coming later this month, expect to hear more about it soon.

Please, I rather take "horrible" "sleeping under the rock" design over any phones with worthless punch holes and pills, especially when most apps still can't hide them well anyway.
