Wanted to buy a new Sony for $1200. But then I bought a 2 year old 5 III because it was much more handy and had a notification LED. 30 dollars for a new battery and now I have the perfect Android with OS13.

Couldnt agree more and will probably do the same

I got Xperia 5 III summer 2022. After half a year, i had to send it to service due to faulty screen and fingerprint sensor. 2 weeks ago my screen went faulty again. Previous to that experience, i had Xperia 1 (first edition) and the entire SIM chipset failed 2 weeks after warranty period.

I've given Sony all the chances in the world, but it seems like they don't care about the quality of the products they put out at all. While the audio (and the fact that it's not made in China) was the most important reason for me, it's just not worth having a phone that just randomly decides to die and/or cause trouble for me so often so early. I'm probably going to try a mainstream device next, just because i'm tired of this company's shenanigans.

Get it if you really care about audio, but be warned - quality is not what you'd expect it to be, considering the price point.

Dont understand the pricing. How come the 256 GB model is almost 300 USD cheaper than the 128 GB one?

I have been using Xperia 5 III for 2 years and now its time for me to get another jobb phone but I think I will wait for pixel 8. I don't have a good experiences from using 5 III (overheating and a lot of bugs). I was thinking about xperia 5 V, but they even got rid off zoom camera and now I just don't believe that experience will be much better.
What do you think about waiting for pixel 8?

danksy, 28 Jun 2023Mine doesn't do that at all. You have a faulty phone. the phone has been tested by so many reviewers and websites and was found to have suffered more or less from severe heating issues. So let's not pretend the issue isn't there. It is.

Tbh I think it is one of the worst phones Sony made. No fault to their own, it is just the chip. It is crap

I bought this phone and using in India. I still can't update Android 13. Camera in low light performance is very poor, depth in 12mp is not satisfied.

It seems this is a pressing issue with most Xperia devices. I would assume that the 8gen2 in the next 5 series model would resolve most of these issues, but I am a bit impatient given that it would probably launch in October/November. The 1v is a bit too big for my taste, given that I am currently using an S23 vanilla model.

I am considering the 5iv, but again, I believe that the 5v would bring significant improvements and make me regret my purchasing decision.

And yes, I am fully aware - these are all first world problems...

                                    Thanks again, buddy, cheers.

I think there were improvements to some of the initial thermal crashes, but it does still throttle and get quite warm. I think it is a common issue with the Snapdragon 888 processor.
Also, for the last 3 updates the fingerprint scanner will disable itself and needs the fingerprints removed/readded.
This is along with another series of crashes in a variety of apps. It's not well optimized and doesn't have the best support.

I'd try a newer model or the Xperia 1.

Does this model have that "green line" issue? Also, how are the thermals and throttling?
