The speaker of the phone is very poor.
The sound is broken, and is very quite.
Forget about the Dolby Digital Surround, they make the sound worse.
The screen actually is quite detail, but color reproduction is not on par. White color is yellowish, and the overall color is not very interesting. Viewing angle is not good.
The camera also is a little buggy, taking very long time for auto focus.
The software feature is very very less friendly. It miss out a lot of basic feature. It doesn't have "File Manager" by default. It even take more step to change the wallpaper on lock screen and home screen.
The Android version is stuck at 4.2.2, and no further update is announce.
All in all, not the best in the crowded choice, and definitely not an all rounder. Look else where if you really want a good phalet. However, it is only let down by it's software feature, the hardware is actually quite on par with other highend phalet, except the speaker, and the screen.

Just returned a defect unit and get a brand new unit.
Now, this phablet has price drop below the Oneplus One and Xiao Mi Mi4 price.
The only advantage this phone has over other budget phone is, you still get Micro SD card slot, which can move apps to it.
Performance wise, it is on par with those SnapDragon 800 processor. The real different here is the very Vanilla version of Android, that is not included with any bloatware (but sadly, file manager is also missing). But, it is stuck with version 4.2.2. Software feature is very basic. No IR blaster, but FM Radio is present.
It play nice with every high graphic game.
If you want bigger screen size , 6 inch, with all highend spec in a much simpler OS, and don't care about the branding, then this phalet is a good contender for those who are in the budget.

Just bought this phone.
Just half price now, cheaper than Oneplus One and Xiao Mi Mi4.
Take my money please.
Note 3 spec with oni half price. I just get one.
Only verdict would be the non-removable battery, and it is using nano sim.
Love the premium look and much more stylish design.

Has any one experienced the dead horizontal strip on the screen almost in the middle after the latest update? If yes, please please tell me how to roll back the update.

I can use my Acer S2 to record 1080 and 4K video. I usually use 1080 to record family video but sometimes I will use 4K. 4K video is big in file size and the maximum recording time is 5 min.

They have updated the phone today, still 4.2.2 but the "Worlds first 4k phone" now has had 4k and 1080p 60fps recording disabled, Oh great!
Like I have said from the beginning the camera wasn't great, it got slightly better with previous update, but that caused 4k and 1080p recording to play up, now you can't even choose it from the menu! So they don't seem to fix the problems, just turn them off.
Zero chance of KitKat I feel.

Shame as the phone is actually great, good screen, good battery life, nice and fast... Just the camera & camcorder let it down.

Basically this is a very good mid range phone trying to be topdog, let down by minor faults in primary areas and a camera that is not as good as the current big players.
See what you think. Still need GSM to do the pictures!

Just to let you guys know, that Acer are still working away on the updates, despite the company problems. I was shocked to have had my second one this evening, still 4.2.2 though.

I have been using this handset now for the last few weeks and what i have found is that it IS a good handset but with some minor flaws in software and ways to cover it.
For a start the camera is pretty good but does lack Image stabilisation like the major players (in my own opinion), next the sound from it is good but for some reason feels like a hotel tv when as you are locked from cranking it up to full volume, next the brightness needs to be unlocked a bit more so you can turn it down bit lower than its lowest settings as for some reason it consumes over 73% of my battery, if it was lower it would be better, and finally i would have liked it on 4.3 or Kitkat by now but we shall wait and see.
Other than the fact that i cannot find ANY cases or covers that are under $20.00 (£10.00), the cheapest ive found are french leather ones for around £44.00 ($88.00) i find it to be a fresh alternative to the big players, just a pitty its not pushed much nor is there any updates or cases/covers for it!

They gave 4 out of 5 with lots of positives, but no detail on photograph quality.
In view of your experience we still need reviews of the version available now (I never know whether they alter anything on the latest production model).
Come on GSM, lets have your opinion in a full review.

You are dead right about Acer not promoting the phone etc, I have a feeling they will move on to a newer model, I also feel like I'm the only one with this phone at the moment, in reality, obviously not, but I bet it's no more than a handful. Seems like this phone with soon be the "bastard child" nobody want's to talk about! lol
I must say, the camera isn't too bad once it's turned down like I said in my previous posts, but still not as good as my original galaxy note, which is the biggest disappointment. But the rest of the phone is growing on me (not like fungus!), seriously though, the screen is lovely and the battery is very good now I've had it for a few weeks.
All of this is just my personal views as there are no real reviews yet, I have no agenda, just being honest, happy to answer questions if I can.

I was not saying anything about your ownership but that Acer themselves do not have information on any fone company in the UK who have it/will have it on contract, and I have not found any.
This suggests that if I want it I have to buy it outright. Even at £425 the cost of a sim only deal makes this £100 more expensive than a Note 3 over 2 years contract.
The rest of my comments suggested that Acer do not appear interested in helping promote the fone, and the fact that there appears to be no detailed reviews suggests something wrong.
I, like you, want a fone with a great camera, so your "review" is very helpful in showing that the S2 appears to be a letdown.
As I said, reviews are desperately needed.
