I just realized the G-sensor has a settings menu which allows you to specify which applications can be changed to landscape by turning the device sideways. So good to discover that little nugget of joy.
FYI --> I use att 3g in chicago and burbs area. Full bars and my internet download speed is 400kbps faster than iphone 3gs.

I actually have this phone. I played around with the HTC HD2 rom and I don't like manilla so I went back to standard 6.5 w/spb mobile shell to get carousel and the android like multiple screens. It tons faster than the 3gs which i just sold off and lets not forget it actually plays most media files. It has GPS and i was just using it with IGO Inav software today. Skyfire works and I can watch justin.tv if i feel the urge. I get 3g hsdpa full bars in my area (chicago & nw suburbs). The resistive screen is excellent and reacts well to touches. I don't have to pound on the screen and it is well optimized for my fingers. The keyboard takes getting used to but it works really well once I got used to having to actually press on the screen. In landscape mode, the keyboard rivals iphone and android capacitive devices. I've tried both kinds and that's how i feel about it. That was my biggest worry and I gambled correctly on the neotouch. I am sooo glad to be rid of itunes. Its bulky and it slows my computer down at the most inconvenient times. Lets not forget to mention it wouldn't let me restore the phone (right when i was about to sell it), B/c apparently apple has decided to force people to restore to newest firmware WTF.
The bad --> My desktop still refuses to install the RNDIS drivers to sync w/WMDC on win 7 RC. Works fine on my laptop w/Win 7 full version and I can sync on the desktop using xp virtual mode no problem.
The battery seems to last only about a day right now but I need to break it in.
B/c i install and uninstall so many programs and stuff, I have to use the reset button every once in a while. (if Iphone could do that I'd have to restart too and in fact i've had it freeze many many times.) Same will go for HTC HD2... you'll have to reset it many times.
The stock homescreen is useless , but all you have to do is uncheck the acer homescreen in home options.
opera and skyfire don't recognize accelerometer but that will get fixed. So, no landscape except in IE which is much better b/c flash and speed, but still slow.
Media player doesn't know the difference b/w ringtone and songs so you end up with them mixed together unless you organize em yourself.
The video recording framerate is not good in darker settings and its excellent in relatively brighter settings. (this will be the exact same on HTC HD2, I am sure of it.)
FM radio works just fine w/out the headphones, but the headphones antenna will let it work better indoors.
Browsing speed is very fast in opera 10 beta and probably rivals safari in speed if not faster. If you put skyfire in the mix, the iphone browser falls way behind. Safari does zoom and scroll better, but scrolling isn't alot better and zoom is more accurate for columns and things of that nature.
The verdict. As far as i'm concerned the neotouch is the best phone for the money period. Next you're looking at nexus one and n900 and maybe xperia phones. You can't beat the hardware and though the finish isn't the best, we're not trying to make a fashion statement; we want usability and flexibility and SPEEEEEED!!!..... and of course, flash. Since adobe has been promising flash for the last 2 years w/no sign of it coming out, WM is your only means of flash through skyfire.

hi guys,
to all the users, does this phone support video calling? I have been getting conflicting info/advice, some say it does, such as the review some say it doesn't, can anyone clarify?

Love the speed, it is even faster then my girl friend's iphone 3gs.
Haven't tried it against the HD2, but the price difference is huge.. this phone is good for those who want speed but don't want to spend too much

i have been using this phone for about 3 weeks now, in fact i am so pleased with it, very powerful, fast and sleek, it is cool, one problem is the ringtone voulum is very low even after updating the software, even though still i will not give it up for any other one.

Regret. i really feel regret. overall design is good. the applications sucks. touch-screen keypad it's ok. battery very fast dead. ringtones gotta set different in the file. the more i say, the more i feel regret. to me, 3star out of 10.

not worth buying this phone as this is the worst phone I have ever used in my life., I was fooled by picking this phone in case of my htc touch hd.my hd was far more better in performance and features .the main drawback is the battery backup and speed.,

i own this Acer f1 and so far the performance is good..
there is no silicone case available in the market as its still new and just launched..and one more thing honestly the battery can't stand longer if you use it frequently as it use 1Gb processor...faster and use more battery..try to use power saver..

Well, as you read the specs above you (can) see, despite the fact that it is 3.1 mm bigger in length and 0.9 mm in width though its 0.3 mm thinner, the Acer NeoTouch outtakes your iPhone 3GS at just about any aspect, including looks and adding more to it with the HSUPA 5.76 Mbps technology wich Apple failed to introduce to its market leading smartphone.

Anyone here know where to find acer neotouch silicone case ?
I dont like leather cases because it becomes bulky so im looking for the silicone casing. Also i notice only iphone have alot of fancy case available than other phone models.

Plz think over before investing Rs 32000/-. The biggest problem is the battery gets drain within half an hour. Or if u see half of the movie on ur device the battery is zero.

it has faster cpu then iPhone but it works still slower then iPhone...
