Actually not to worry i can't even find a source to buy the 5s in or outside the UK. Thought i had found the ultimate budget phone. Oh well back to drawing board, either that or i do go back to a Droid Turbo XT1225 / XT1254 from 2014.

Does this definitely Not have NFC? Different sources saying different things. even found a google pay advert showing this phone as wireless payment able.

It's actually a pretty decent deal if you ask me.

Got mine new for 150$ works damn fine, battery holds pretty well. Cameras are awesome got front flash for selfies and menu and options for camera is pretty decent. Call quality is below ok but it depends of signal reception from carrier, maybe a future update will fix my problem. Battery part is decent, and can last all day for a normal user but for a power user as myself i need to charge over night. Android 7.0 on this device haves all you need: night mode, dont disturb mod and all gr8est stuff in nougat and is crazy smoth, got some theme store and an almost stock android menu like. Stereo speakers are pretty loud but lacks bass. U can do vr stuff on it and the best part i apreciate on this device is an working compas from day 0.
I recomand 8/10 buy it while you can, the elegant unibody painted coating aluminium idol 5s worth your money for a tight buget.

The Alcatel Idol 5S does not use a Mediatek Chipset, it uses the Snapdragon 625 CPU, and Adreno 506 GPU. This information can be found both on Amazon and Alcatel's website. This is the same Chipset used in the Moto Z Play which had amazing battery life, and great performance. Please research your specs GSMArena, I have always come to you for specs and expect accuracy.

This is good, because there are a lot of smartphones, with MediaTek, that have great design and features. Great job with that test. I guess the 5s isn't a bad buy.

(the glorious Meizu Pro 7) I am owning the X30 iteration. and comparing to samsung or even a Sony XZP. the drainage ESPECIALLY in the new generation is not that badly to be exact.
using an app called System Monitor (the one circle with the mostly blue ring) Using superuser I've made it run constantly even if the app is off. and a notification pane told me the drainage.
all three phones started from the SAME amount of mAh: 3000 mAh
according to the test: Mediatek MT6799 (Helio X30) Drained 25 mAh per 6:58minutes
Samsung Galaxy S8 (Exynos 8895) Drained 25 mAh per 7:24minutes
and Sony XZP (S835) drained the same 25mAh per 7:26minutes
AFTER all phones reached 1500 mAh and showed constant results. I've stopped the test.
sure. that's still some 25 seconds faster drainage compared to Exynos and Qualcomm but it's great.
(Wanted to make it a 5 chipsets race. but an iPhone does NOT support such an app. and I had no Huawei to test)

I'm for reducing "features" like Quad HD, AMOLED, or even processor; there are target audience for those things. I would think Mediatek drains battery a lot more than Qualcomm. I'd like to be proven wrong, but if not, this is a bold sell. Unfortunately there may not be any promotional items to come with it. Maybe earbuds but who knows who they are made by.
