Hi All, I was planning to buy a Alcatel Onetouch Idol X+. I wanted to know If I have value for money, can I use apps like Whatsapp, Facebook, Linked In etc. Please let me know if I can go ahead with this buy or do you'll suggest any other mobile with the above mentioned features and benefits including value for money!!!

Hi,
I have a Alcatel Onetouch 6040A with current firmware version 4.2.2-02001.
My phone keeps telling me there is Update Info available, 03001_20140804_191816, 160MB??
For the past couple of weeks I've been attempting to download this update,,,, but the update keeps failing???
Has anyone else experienced this issue??
Does anyone know any fix to this?

I have Idol X for 6 months already, no single issue mentioned.
No overheating at all/ even when I use it as GPS in car for hours (hooked to car's power), it runs just slightly warm.
I optimized it with GS monitor app., used static wifi IP, it keeps power for more that 3 days a single charge with mediocre use. So it can't produce lot of heat at all.

i reply to you with "or maybe they looking for android L..." cuz u asking what does it mean by high OS, well L is high.

There is an existing update to the Idol x + to kitkat 4.4.2 (India)
I have updated it, and it works perfectly fine. There are small issues mainly with the UI.
(1. The color of the network signal is always white irrespective of what you choose.
2. The camera widget does not work from the lock screen.)
There is another update... Currently it's in progress...

Dear All ,
I have sent Alcatel before ( 3 months ago) asking about upgrading Idol X to Kitkat and they replied it`s underdevelopment but they can`t confirm specific date which means they intended to upgrade it to kiktak .
Anyway I have sent them 2 days ago again asking the same question but the answer has been changed from Kitkat to a higher Android OS !!!! here below their reply ;

So Does it mean that we will not get Kitkat ? what does it mean by Higher OS ! is it 4.3 only !!! or it will be 4.2.2 bit with higher bulid version ! mine is 01005 .

it hasnt been a year since i owned idolx and the problems keep coming from auto shutting down, auto restart,battery overheat,there is a white light on the top left but it is not charging,lagging when im on 3g/4g but mostly the selling point of the phone is the camera, lightweight,friendly user handling and that is it. idolx also still with jelly beans and report shows on their web that this phone might not get any upgrades. but that is still unsure as if now only what's confirmed lollipop released few days ago and this phone is still at jellybeans.
i hope the review will help others to reconsider other phones.
it a great phone. but not for primary phone as it will trouble you with so many trips to service centre. might want to have a look at idolx + or idol2

Mind would freeze Anand i would hold tge power to turn it off and it would work for a bit and it would freeze all over again. It would freeze on the title and then it said its unresponsive and to reset so i would click reset but nothing happens. Restarted the phone and now it won't turn on, just a black screen wuth the white light in the corner when connected

I bought Idol X few days ago. Unfortunatley, its microphone is not working fine. When I call someone, he can't hear me properly as there is noise. Also when recording the video the phone does'nt capture the sound. It makes noise. Voice recording also the same. I bought it from Danube Supermarket Jeddah. Does anyone know the service center in Jeddah?
