The Vairy Text is the T-mobile licensed version of the phone.

It is actually a very nice phone and very easy to use.

This telephone is awful. NOt practical or user friendly at all.Waste of money, should have spent 100 more and get a nokia. Does anybody know how to introduce addresses? Looks like it is not possible.

yes..but the fact is..still got a long way to go. Alcatel needs many more mid-range models to gain respect..they can't keep on churning out low-end models only. so far i've only seen feature-packed alcatels meant for the chinese markets :( .if they can somehow squeeze in wifi into the OT-800, and selling it at a low price..it would have a surefire hit on their hands

Whatever it is, it is good to see that Alcatel models are becomming more and more common and popular. Spread the word people Alcatel is coming back! And watch out ;).

Yupe Nelson...in fact, the old Alcatel had actually -renamed one flip-phone Pantech as the Alcatel OT something...i forgot the model. So i guess it's very normal for the same phone to be under different brand names.

Alcatel may have really manufactured this but is using other brand name. I have read an article from mobile-review before stating that Pantech is manufacturing a certain pantech model but is using nokia as brand name. Here in our manufacturing company, we are also manufacturing printer cartridges for the following printers: brothers, lenovo, samsung, sharp, xerox, & dell. So I believe that venera1 being stated here is the OT TRIBE but still I suggest people to buy the alcatel brand.

                          Correction, it's Sagem's My750X, sold under Piquadro's brand name

I think the Venera V1 is a licensed OT-Tribe by one of the telco in Indonesia. Sometimes companies would licensed another company's phone to sell under a different brand name eg. Sagem MY X800 sold as Piquandro (not sure of the spelling), or some of the ZTE phones are sold under the brand name Vodaphone. The Venera would be made under the same factory as other Alcatel, as it would be expensive to set up a new factory..

I can not say anything about this because I do not know. The only thing I can imagine is that the Venera is a product which is assembled under license and is sold under a different brand. The only original Alcatel model is the OT800 Tribe, if you want to be sure to get a quality product, buy the original Alcatel model.
