I have just upgraded my Alcatel with France ics and I can only say that is working far better than I was expecting. It is much faster and smother and battery life is prolonged. trew, 28 Oct 2012can someone explain to me how to backup step by step my exi... moreHi, you must first ROOT your OT-995 and then FLASH CWM to it and in CWM you make a BACKUP of your existing GB 2.3.6 system, when that's done follow my guide below how to install ICS and you're done..

HOW TO ROOT OT-995 GB 2.3.6
---------------------------
To ROOT the OT-995 running GB 2.3.6, just download and run SuperOneClickv2.3.3 as ADMIN by rightclicking on the SuperOneClick.exe,then select ALCAPWN under EXPLOIT MENU to the right in the program and then just click ROOT.. DONE!!
Same proceedure to UNROOT the OT-995 but instead of clicking ROOT you click UNROOT..

CWM RECOVERY FILE NEEDED: recovery-2012.06.09.img (GOOGLE AND DOWNLOAD IT FOR FLASHING!!)
YOU ALSO NEED FASTBOOT (GOOGLE AND DOWNLOAD IT)
1. If you have previously installed a FOTA update, ensure any
leftover files are deleted (requires root):
$ adb shell rm /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
$ adb shell rm /system/recovery-from-boot.p
2. Boot to fastboot:
- If Android is running:
$ adb reboot-bootloader
- If device is powered off:
Hold volume down and press power to turn the device on
3. Flash the recovery image
$ fastboot flash recovery recovery-2012.06.09.img
CWM notes

- To enter recovery from a cold boot, hold volume up and press the power button.
- Navigate the menu using:
- Volume keys (up/down) and power (select)
- Menu/home keys (up/down) and search (select)

ICS_FR Download Link: http://d-h.st/48T
1. Flash or boot CWM
2. Backup your existing firmware (Important!)
3. Download: CWM-flashable ICS FR (From link above)
4. Store the alcatel_ics_fr directory on SD as /clockworkmod/backup/alcatel_ics_fr/
5. Use CWM's backup and restore -> restore -> alcatel_ics_fr to restore the image
6. Choose data/factory reset to clear your data partition
Notice: If you get MD5 error message then rename alcatel_ics_fr folder to 2012-10-13.00.00.00 and follow the instructions above again..

much quicker and responsive and smooth now!
but i just have one minor issue!!!
I rooted it on gingerbread.
followed your steps to root it on gingerbread and it worked great using SUPERONECLICK and alcapwn.
but now on ICS it seems to be unrooted and when i try to use SUPERONECLICK and alcapwn to root it it hangs on step #3 or Step #7.
I love the new ICS but very disappointed i can only play around 5 mins of good games like shadowgun and it "unexpectedly closes".
they seem to work okay at first and then die.
PLEASE HELP!
would be much appreciated!

HEELLPP!! can someone PLEASE help me out.
I have the alcatel OT-995 and used to run on gingerbread till around 3 days ago. my phone was previously rooted but then i installed the french version of ICS 4.0 using the steps provided in the previous comments.
Since my update the phone is working ALOT better alot more responsive and ICS is pretty smooth and fast.
However now i try to use SETCPU and other progs they dont work and it says my phone is not rooted.
I used SUPERONECLICK + alcapwn when i rooted on gingerbread but now i try to do the same it does not root.And superoneclick hangs on step #3 or step #7
Its SUPPERR FRUSTRATING!
plllleassee HELPP!! ASAP!!

All the other roms to OT-995 that are stock is the same as this one when they hit your country, the only thing that may change is that fr some country their language will be supported an some countries language may not be supported in the French_ICS
