Question for Alcatel:
I am looking for ringtone converter software (winXP) for the Alcatel OT-E801, if there's
software available, could you drop me a line?
Oh yeah, and where can I download your latest firmware?
thanks in advance..

Great phone with massive SD card!
In order to play mp3's you have to connect to PC with usb cable and activate! the connection in the phone menu.
An connection icon in the sys-tray (next to clock) will pop up. Now, goto windows Explorer and check if there's a folder named MP3 on the SD card. If not, make a MP3 folder on the SD card and copy all your mp3's in there. (this is also explained in the user guide!) Now your phone will know where to find ur music. Good luck!

This phone does support mp3's, that's why it is an mp3 player with telephone function! But it is a bit strange to compare this phone with K750? I mean that is a higher end phone while this cute little E801 is just a cheap entry level prepaid phone... so there is no comparison in my honest opinion.

if I am not mistaking, the specification says that this phone does not support mp3 files.
by the way, I find its design very very nice, but the rest have dissapointed me.
the k800 leads the way...
and I HAVE this leader...

I bought my Alcatel OT-E801 online but the offer was out any memory card. the shopping homepage didn't tell that you also have a buy an optional memory card to make use of the mp3 player - I don't feel cheated (the phone was very very cheap and the offer was including a very good and cheap network deal for 6 month(after that period the phone will unlocked for free) but the tech novice could have been let into believe that the phone will play mp3!
So you also make the that the Alcatel OT-E801 comes with a memory card include or else you need to spent extra cash on memory card.
the red back light is very cool

When we say format, we mean formatting the memory card... this is really not Alcatels fault but the producer of the memory card is at fault here... the cards are NOT formatted correctly or not at all... meaning that the card is not prepared and set up to receice any data... in order to prep it you need to format it... if the phone can't do it... try formatting it with a memory card reader or a different device that can take accept the same type of cards... technically the device should format the card correctly and that way it will be ready for storage of your favourite songs!
