Cathy, all I can say is you will never regret buying this phone because this is the cheapest mp3 player in town. And not only you have mp3 player with this but you also have a phone with call and text function. And again with cheap price you also have calculator and can play games anytime you want to. Phone with basic function is what people really need everyday. You can't see people browsing the internet using their phone all the time because browsing the net using pc is still much better. The battery killer bluetooth is not used by phone owners most of the times but almost all people now are using listening to their favorite music while on the road or anywhere they go. So don't hesitate to buy this.

this is for knight rider or nelson....
after viewing many comments....
can you give me a nice comment or something to convinced to buy this fone,i really want it, because you can call, text & have a 2GB mp3 memory card, but i cannot use the songs as message alert, ringtone & even hear it in a loudspeaker....
so should a buy this...
sorry just kindda confuse...

i'm planning to buy this unit today, thats why im browsing your opinions, coz i have'nt try the phone yet, yes the mp3's cannot be heard on a loud a speaker, but i see that there is a mobile speaker posted in it's brochure,have anyone try this, does it sound good, coz i'm buying this because of the mp3 player that goes with the fone....

jay, I don't agree with you because my OT E801 works fine. It plays my mp3 well. I am using 1 gb sandisk. Just check your contents, your songs in your memory card. You might think that they are in mp3 format but they might not be and this phone really don't read files other than mp3.

if your thinking about whether to buy this phone. do not buy it. i bought mines brand new cause it said it had mp3 player. i connected it to the internet but it kept on saying failed. so i took my memory card and put it in a nother phone and copied the songs on to the memory card and it copied. then i put it in my phone and it said empty. this is a rubbish phone theres no bluetooth the mp3 dont work and you have to hear it on headphones. do not buy this phone you will regret it.

JMachine, you cannot use any mp3 as ringtone or message alert tone.

Take your unit to the store where you purchased it and ask them to check your unit. It is still under warranty.

Am sorry i have a big problem about my phone(OT-E801).The problem is the back light went off after i've recieved a call and since then it has not been coming.the screen comes but the light on the screen ic not coming that of tha keypad is coming.please help me since i just bought it about a month ago.

No this phones battery is not interchangable with the C825 one as the C825 one is smaller in terms of dimensions. You could try the S853 one.

In y opinion, this phone is a basic telephone, you can only listen de mp3. dont have FM

Hi,
First of all, OT-E801 is a wonderful phone. I had a 1GB plug into it and everything works fine. 2GB is too much for my eardrum can handle all the songs in such huge memory. I had this phone for a year now n i has no problems at all. It easily connects to pc with no problems and hassles(doesnt do the connection failed even in the first place). Only two problems i had at first:
1. Battery doesnt last long enough. (But i tried using the OT S853 battery which is 810mAh instead of the 650mAh capacity, and its great. Music lasted for nearly 10 hours instead of that 4-6 hours standard duration, and txting lasted for 3.5 days even 4 days if ur not much onto talking.)
2. No 3.5mm jack for custom headphones. Even mini usb adapters from OT-C825 and 701 doesnt works in this unit. I just bought a pair of ibuds rubber accessories for ipod headsets and insert in at the earphones of this unit and u can hear the huge difference in basses which is awsome its like i hav an ipod in my pocket which is just cheap.)
Overall a very good phone. i treat it like my former basic nokia 3310 with a touch of sony walkman music added to it. Nice isn't it? Thank u alcatel.

This phone don't have fm radio, only mp3 player but you will never regret buying it because it is the cheapest.

My phone has very poor battery/charge capacity. It takes less than 45 mins to get fully charged and battery life is less than 12 hours if I talk barely 20 mins per day. Does Alcatel have a stronger battery for this model? Also, being a Nokia user for long earlier, I don't like not being able to scroll smartly through my large phonebook. Just can't start liking this phone.
