Did you try to read the manual to see what it says about connecting it to the PC. I have never had such issues with the phone. Maybe I can help, email me at un112@msn.com and describe your problem in full detail I will see what I can do.

I've got the same problem. When I connect my phone to my PC to copy mp3 files to my phone I get the message that I need to format. I'm not sure what to do. Can I format without getting into a lot of other problems. I search the site tctmobile.com but couldnít find an answer. can anyone help?

First of all, make sure your phones memory card is properly plugged in. Also read the section of the phones manual thats goes about using the MP3 and memory card. It sounds like your card is not properly formated, you need to format it. You can do that in the phone (I think) and or via PC.

Thanks! You should ask a bonus to Alcatel by helping them to sell E805s!

I took the liberty of making a picture of the music connector for the E805. The USB end plugs into the phone, while the other end features an "answer button" "volume control" "microphone" and a 3.5 mm jack in which you can plug any headset you want/have as long as it features a 3.5 mm jack. The connector is also used as a handsfree set, to make calls.

Yet another question for some polite owner (might as well take advantage of Knight Rider's answering session...):
regarding the use of a different headset, I understand that I need to connect it to the adapter that itself is connected to the mini-usb port. My question is: can the original headset be disconnected?
Because from the pictures it doesn't look that way, and I'd find annoying carrying the phone, usb-adapter and the original headset in my pocket, while using a different (better...) headset.
Thanks in advance. I'm posting this here because I can't find any shop physically carrying this mobile!

You could purchase a portable speaker set (for mp3 players) that can plug into a 3.5 plug. That should do the trick.

No Hannah I am sorry you can not, I would advise you to buy a new C series Alcatel phone which does have that option, and those phones are out and available too and for a good price.

To get mp3's to work... simply connect with USB to your PC. If you have XP your PC will automatically instal the needed drivers (note that you have to have the SD card in the phone!!!) once the PC is ready the phone should show up as a "Mass storage device" or "external drive". There should be a folder called "MP3" just open that folder and paste your music files into that folder, that's it.
