Though it is not expensive as other phone but what you don't really know is it is not cheap it terms of endurance. This is better than the new release of Samsung Galaxy V. my Sister have Samsung Galaxy V. Just the same incident on Hameruel, the Galaxy V didn't exist for too long 'cause it broked and its screen did not function properly. What you don't know that buying phone is not about how popular it's Brand, but it is about how long could it takes and how many years it would exist through its endurance and strength. :)

Good phone. I wish to stay with it longer, but I can't. My wife swap it for Asus Zenfone 4.5inch (with 1Gb RAM, 8Gb ROM). Anyway, thanks Alcatel for a satisfying experience. Farewell, pop C5..

what do we do if the apps is playing up in the phone. Whenever I log in to facebook, google etc it gets in, than within 4-5sec it takes me back to home.

What you don't know about this phone is that it is durable. nYJeolC is very-very right about it. Beside durable, by holding this Alcatel Pop C5 you don't have to be afraid of what will happen. The first time I bought the phone, it do feel some regrets and doubts, 'til the time came when I was sleeping in a double deck, it is 2 meters high away from our floor. I was playing my songs repeatedly with 49% battery in 12:02, I put this phone beside me almost near at the falling part/end. When I fall asleep, I don't know what just happened. Until I woke up early in 5:28 I hear that the phone is still playing. I go downstairs when I look under the bed. Woah?!!!! I was so shock (not because I am afraid that my phone would broke) but I wasn't. I was happy when the phone is okay, no phone critical damage, but only the screen protector get scratch and the metal-like on its side got a little bit damage and the back cover didn't open, and the phone is still playing in 24% battery, and principally it is super okay.
WOAH!!! What a durable, good, nice, better, best phone I ever had, even it only cost 3,999 pesos here in Philippines.
Can you realize it? What a kind of BEST phone ever... So If I were you, buy this. THANKS for reading, hope that you'll believe what just happened to my Alcatel Pop C5 phone.

after downloading and installing a new firmware upgrade, I noticed that the name of the contact doesn't appear on the status bar notifications any more. what should i do to fix this?

I am a user of C5 for a 3 month.
For me, this is just a fine device.
no issue with instant social messaging
(whatsapp, wechat, line, viber).
some crashed issue on FB (people said it is due to the FB aq latest version, not C5).
TFT, not IPS (but dïsplay still clear & bright).
small RAM memory (Cleaner app is advisable).
GPS sync was slow but precise.
battery may produce heat (so, no heavy game).
2point touch, pre-installed analog tv tuner (not require internet = best)
overall, 3.9 out of 5.

B... moreHe/shes right, Infact the low entry phones of samsung poor in performance, I have an alcatel C9 which falls in the category of midrange phones, comparing it to galaxy core 2 which is more expensive and has lower specs.. ofcourse people would prefer c9 because its worth buying it. Why do i know this? I use to have Galaxy core, To be honest I regret buying, first because its price doesnt match the specs, at a price segment of $195.00, there are phones out there with higher specs but cheaper price. Its like the only thing you're buying in Samsung products is their name. To make it short, Samsung's low entry lvl phones suck.

Problem phone can not update can not read sim needs to be factory reset weekly,do yourself a favour stay away from this model !
