Amazfit Cheetah and Cheetah Pro announced for runners with classic crown and dual-band GPS
Amazfit has announced the new Cheetah series under its Performance lineup. It's aimed at runners, and the first smartwatches Amazfit launched as a part of the Cheetah series are called Cheetah and Cheetah Pro.
Amazfit Cheetah Pro
Let's talk about the Amazfit Cheetah Pro first. It's advertised as "a premium watch for elite runners who want to optimize their performance" and packs a 1.45" Always-On AMOLED display of 480x480-pixel resolution. It's protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and has a 1,000 nits peak brightness to ensure the on-screen information is readable under bright sunlight. The display also supports 100+ watch faces.
The Amazfit Cheetah Pro's bezel is made of Titanium alloy for a premium and professional look, while the middle frame is made of fiber-reinforced polymer to keep the watch lightweight. The Cheetah Pro uses a sweat-wicking nylon strap that's 22mm wide and has an adjustable length of 150-220mm.
The Cheetah Pro features a responsive button and a convenient crown on its right side, making it easier for the user to control the watch, even during an intense run. And since the Cheetah Pro is aimed at runners, it comes with an AI-powered Zepp Coach to provide personalized running plans tailored to the user's goals, which will adjust week-to-week based on the user's performance and condition. It can also provide scientific guidance to the users to help them understand their progress.
In some countries, the Zepp Coach will come with an AI Chat chatbot for a short demo before it becomes a subscription-based service. It uses generative AI and applied large language model (LLM) to recognize the user's natural language descriptions via voice or typed commands to deliver easy-to-understand answers to their sports-related questions. Amazfit says, "It's just like being in a one-on-one coaching session with a real human personal trainer."
Other features aimed at runners include Virtual Pacer, Race Achievement Prediction, and Track Run Mode. Virtual Pacer lets you set an AI pace target, and once you have a few runs under your belt, you can use Race Achievement Prediction to see how you'd perform on the race day.
Track Run Mode, on the other hand, provides time, distance, and pace data for every lap, and if needed, the Cheetah Pro's algorithm can correct your trajectory and distance to ensure your performance data in the Zepp App matches your selected lane.
Amazfit is also advertising its MaxTrack GPS technology for runners. It uses a dual-band GPS (L1 and L5) antenna to pick up almost 100% of satellite signals and reduces multi-path interference caused by tall buildings and trees to provide more accurate positioning. The Cheetah Pro also supports six satellite positioning systems for reliable coverage.
Cheetah Pro's users can utilize this GPS technology by importing a route file from the Zepp App and color Offline Map of their planned activity area for precise navigation during a run.
The Amazfit Cheetah Pro also comes with the usual slew of health and fitness features, including sleep tracking, stress monitoring, blood-oxygen level monitoring, and heart rate tracking. The smartwatch can be connected with heart rate belts through Bluetooth for even more accurate heart rate tracking. It also supports 150+ indoor and outdoor sports modes and can detect 25 strength exercises automatically.
The rest of the Amazfit Cheetah Pro's highlights include offline music playback, Amazon Alexa, offline voice assistant, and support for Bluetooth phone calls. The smartwatch features a microphone and a speaker, runs Zepp OS 2.0 with support for 100+ apps, and supports WLAN 2.4GHz and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
The Amazfit Cheetah Pro packs a 440 mAh battery advertised to take two hours for a full charge. It can last up to 14 days in a typical usage scenario and up to 7 days with heavy usage. The Cheetah Pro has 5 ATM water resistance and weighs 43g with the strap (34g without it).
Amazfit Cheetah
The Amazfit Cheetah comes in two versions - round and square. We only have details about the former, called Amazfit Cheetah (Round), so let's focus on that.
The Amazfit Cheetah (Round) is advertised as "a practical watch for aspiring athletes who want to train more efficiently" and shares most of the specs and features with the Pro model, with the most notable difference in the screen size and design department.
The Amazfit Cheetah (Round) sports a smaller 1.39" screen of 454x454-pixel resolution, and its bezel is made of fiber-reinforced polymer instead of Titanium alloy. It also uses a liquid silicone strap, which takes the smartwatch's weight to 47g. Without the strap, it weighs 32g.
Besides, the Amazfit Cheetah (Round) doesn't come with a microphone or speaker, nor does it support Bluetooth phone calls. It also doesn't have Wi-Fi connectivity.
Amazfit Cheetah (Round) • Amazfit Cheetah Pro
The Amazfit Cheetah (Round) comes in Speedster Gray color, and the Cheetah Pro comes in Run Track Black color. The Cheetah (Round) is priced at $230 (€210/INR18,840), while the Cheetah Pro costs $300 (€273/INR24,580) in the US. You can purchase it from Amazon, AliExpress, and Amazfit's official website, which offers a pair of Amazfit PowerBuds for free.

Have you tried Gadgetbridge? It's privacy friendly, open source and supports a lot of devices. It should have and support most, if not all, functions of most watches and bands that are on the market currently
