you can run google apps on any fire HD. 4 itty bitty programs loaded & installed in the proper order, then you sign your account info and and yes, your google play apps will run on a kindle fire.

PS: asimple google search will get you that info. every fire tablet i've owned i've loaded google play on it. i mean potentially hundres of $'s in apps? yeah ima use them suckers!

You do not get google services out of the box. Don't really need most of them, as google has websites for things like Hangouts or Docs. Only thing you'll really miss out on is google play store. However, Amazon's App store is NOT bad. Plus, if you have an android phone and use backup apps to backup the .apk's for certain apps you can just transfer them to the tablet anyway.
With that in mind, look at the specs for this tablet and consider that companies like Samsung want prices like $299 for tablets that aren't even half as good as this one and this costs under $200.
I've been using this tablet since December 2013 and I have no regrets. Only negative things I would have to say is I wish Amazon would let us use Micro SD cards with their tablets, but there's ways around that, too.

Anonymous, 26 Jan 2015I don't get google play store out of the box ???????Sorry, you only get to taste amazon app store. You may well instead flash custom rom to have play store enabled but sacrifice your warranty.

The LTE version of this has a nano sim card, not micro. Picked one up and went to try my sim card in it and found out it wouldn't fit. :)

You can do almost anything once you root it, you can put Google play store on it, It's certainly better than the nexus 7

Specifically, expect some problems installing apps from Google. These apps are not present in Amazon app store, and besides finding a reliable source to download from, will require a little bit of hacking to install Google Play Services -a proprietary Google library that is included in Google-certified devices that takes care of authentication in google services among other things-.
Related to this, and after sideloading, Google Maps will *NOT* work properly -street names will not render-.
Other than those apps, my kindle not only runs everything else I tried, but flies! The processor inside this tablet is really fast. The experience beats hands down all my samsung devices.
Also, mind that this tablet is really hard to root, so if you need root-enabled apps like screen video recorders or firewalls it's probably not your tablet.
