Amazon launches Fire TV Stick in India

Prasad, 19 April 2017

As we had reported earlier, Amazon has launched the Fire TV Stick in India. The device is priced at INR 3,999 ($62) for Prime as well as non-Prime customers. Those who are already subscribed to Prime will get INR 499 as cashback to their Amazon Pay balance and non-Prime customers will get a 1-year subscription to the Prime video service, which also includes expedited delivery for select items.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a media player that has the compact form-factor of the Google Chromecast but actually runs a full version of Android with Amazon’s skin on top. Not only can you access Amazon’s own video service through it but also other popular services such as Netflix, Eros Now, Hotstar, Airtel Movies, Gaana, Saavn, Voot, and more. The device also supports basic games and you can connect a Bluetooth controller. The Fire TV Stick comes with Amazon’s Alexa Remote, which lets you search for content using just your voice.

The Fire TV Stick will be available though Amazon India as well as offline.

Will it be able to run all Android apps?
