Amazon to manufacture Fire TV Stick locally in India
In an official blog statement, Amazon India confirmed it will begin local production of its Fire TV Stick under the ‘Make in India’ initiative. The streaming sticks will be manufactured by Cloud Network Technology (Foxconn subsidiary) in the city of Chennai, East India by the end of this year. This marks a milestone for Amazon as the first time it would produce its own hardware in India.

The latest additions in the Fire TV Stick lineup were announced back in September with the Fire TV Stick and TV Stick Lite. It remains unclear which models will be produced locally in India. Commenting on the news, Amit Agarwal (SVP and Head of Amazon India) detailed that the new manufacturing program will cater to the demands of Indian customers and Amazon will continue to scale capacity in additional cities depending on demand.
