Amazon unveils new Fire TV Stick 4K models, updated Fire HD 10 tablets and Echo Show 8 (2023)
Amazon held its big fall launch event which introduced a plethora of new devices across the Fire, Echo and Eero lineups. There are new Fire TV Stick 4K models, a new Fire TV soundbar, as well as new Echo Show and Echo Hub models. We also got a new Wi-Fi 7 cable Eero Max 7 router and updated Fire HD 10 tablets.
Amazon is also bringing Generative AI to Alexa on Fire TV and Echo Show devices which will allow the voice assistant to hold more natural conversations with nuanced answers and the ability to perform multiple requests from one command.
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023)
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) is the new top dog in the Fire TV Stick lineup featuring Fire TV Ambient Experience which allows your TV or monitor to function as an Alexa-powered smart display when you’re not streaming content. It can display artworks, personal photos and useful cards for weather, news, calendar updates and show recommendations. Amazon is also bringing Generative AI to Fire TV’s voice search for more seamless conversational ways to find new content.
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) gets a new 2.0 GHz quad-core processor and is the first streaming stick on the market with support for Wi-Fi 6E connectivity. You can stream up to 4K Ultra HD content with Dolby Vision HDR and HDR 10+. Storage is now updated to 16GB and Amazon is bundling six months of MGM+ streaming on the house
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) is priced at $59.99/€79.99/£69.99 and is now on pre-order. Open sales will start on October 18.
Amazon also announced a new Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) which brings Wi-Fi 6 connectivity and an improved 1.7GHz processor which should be 30% faster than the outgoing Fire TV Stick 4K. You can stream up to 4K Ultra HD content with Dolby Vision HDR and HDR 10+ like on the Max model but you don’t get the Fire TV Ambient Experience here.
Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) is priced at $49.99/€69.99/ £59.99 and is already on pre-order. Open sales will start on October 19.
Fire HD 10 (2023) tablets
The updated Fire HD 10 (2023) tablets come with some minor spec bumps. Fire HD 10 (2023) beings a 10.01-inch IPS LCD with a 1,200 x 1,920px resolution display and stereo speakers. It’s equipped with a new MediaTek MT8186A chipset paired with 3GB RAM and 32/64GB storage which is also expandable via the microSD card slot.
The software side is covered by Fire OS 8. Amazon claims a 13-hour battery life and is offering 15W charging support. The tablets also come with a headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
Fire HD 10 (2023) is priced at $140. There’s a Kids variant that brings the same internals but with a ruggedized casing, 1-year subscription to Amazon’s Kids+ and a $190 starting price.
Fire TV Soundbar
Next up is the Fire TV Soundbar - Amazon’s first soundbar product from the Fire TV brand. It comes in at 24-inch size and features a two-channel stereo setup with support for DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio sound.
The Fire TV Soundbar brings Bluetooth and HDMI input with support for ARC and eARC for uncompressed audio playback. The Fire TV Soundbar is priced at $119.99
Echo Show 8 (2023)
Amazon’s Echo Show 8 (2023) comes with an updated design with slimmer bezels and a faster processor that can handle smart home requests up to 40% faster. It features updated speakers with spatial audio support and better clarity and bass reproduction. There’s a new 13MP camera for video calls and Amazon also added improved background noise reduction. The new Echo Show also supports Matter, Zigbee, Sidewalk, Thread and Bluetooth smart hub protocols.
The Echo Show 8 (2023) comes in white and black colors and is priced at $149.99/€169.99/£169.99.
The Echo Hub (2023) is the latest iteration in Amazon’s wall-mountable smart home control panel series. It looks quite similar to the new Echo Show 8 with an identical 8-inch touchscreen with an updated UI featuring widget controls for your smart home appliances.
Echo Hub (2023) supports the Matter, Zigbee, Sidewalk, Thread and Bluetooth smart hub protocols. It can be hooked up to Wi-Fi or ethernet with support for power-over-ethernet (PoE). Pricing is set at $179.99/€199.99/£169.99.
Eero Max 7 router
Amazon’s Eero Max 7 router supports Wi-Fi 7 connectivity and three wireless bands - 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz. Amazon claims up to 9.4 Gbps ethernet speeds and up to 4.3 Gbps wireless speeds.
Amazon also claims its newest router can handle up to 200 connected devices. Pricing is set at $599.99 for one router and 1,699.99 for a 3-pack.
I use previous version of 4k max. Works great. Pretty fast and rarely freezes if it is a really bad website. Mainly using for youtube and watching movies via browser.
