Analyst believes Apple will introduce Rose Gold iPhone 6s

13 May, 2015

Apple is in the luxury product business now with the Watch Edition, so KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the next-gen iPhone could come in Rose Gold. What he isn’t sure about though is whether this will be gold, the color, or gold, the metal.

Current iPhones use yellow gold-colored aluminum, while the top-end Apple Watch has a case made of real gold (mixed with ceramics). The price for such a gilded iPhone is uncertain, but the $10,000 starting point of the watch is probably a good guideline.

The iPhone 6s Plus might borrow another building block from the Watch Edition – sapphire glass. This depends on whether or not it can pass the drop test, says Kuo.

Apple is reportedly concentrating on durability with the upcoming iPhone models (due this September) and is redesigning the interior to make the handsets harder to bend.

Additional features suggested by the analyst include Force Touch (found on the Watch and the new MacBook), an upgrade to a 12MP camera and superior sound.

There's also something Kuo believes we won't see – a 4" iPhone. The mandatory "mini iPhone" rumors have already started, but if he's right we're in for another round of 4.7" and 5.5" devices.
