Android 6.0 Marshmallow now seeding on Sprint's HTC Desire 626s

Kaloyan, 07 June, 2016

The HTC Desire 626 was released back in early 2015 with 5" 720p display, a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor, 16GB storage, and a 13MP main camera. Its Android OS in charge was KitKat. The 626 legacy spawned into two different models - the Desire 626s and 626G+.

The 626G+ model is pretty much the same as the original one, but downgrades the CPU to 32-bit Cortex-A7 and halves the memory. The 626s on the other hand also downgrades the CPU and halves the storage, but it also reduces the camera resolution - 8MP on the back and just 2MP for selfies.

The Desire 626s was launched last summer with Android Lollipop and many thought it will be left forever on the 5.1.1 version. HTC thought differently, though. The model is now getting an OTA updated with Android Marshmallow OS. The Sense version remains the same.

Still, with the new Android OS you will be getting Doze mode, finer app permission management, more advanced Google Now and adoptable storage.

The update is now seeding on the Sprint's Desire 626s model. We guess other Desire 626s models should be getting the Marshmallow update soon.
