Another Samsung phone on the loose, S5560 spotted in the wild

27 October, 2009

If you haven't heard of Samsung S5560 before, it's because it's not even official yet. However today we spotted its full specs complete with a marketing image. Besides full touch UI, it packs Wi-Fi at the expense of 3G.

We guess this is what it all boils down to - touch phones on a budget are an increasingly important market niche and Wi-Fi has been high on the feature wishlist of budget-conscious users. However with this one, Samsung have also included a 5 megapixel auto focus camera with smile and blink detection.

Recently Samsung have been busy announcing various new phones each month. Well, not this one. The Samsung S5560 is not officially announced yet, although it's supposed to go on sale as soon as this November and already appeared on a French retailer website.

The S5560 is a standard touchscreen phone, with a form factor very similar to Jet and Corby. It packs a 3-inch resistive touch display with WQVGA resolution, 5 megapixel snapper with LED flash, micro SD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack. Despite the lack of 3G capabilities, the S5560 sports Wi-Fi connectivity.

The S5560 looks like an answer to the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic, which turned to be quite capable smartphone. The listed pre-order price of 300 euro is quite high for what this baby offers, but we guess it will soon go down to the 200 euro mark it really deserves.

I've tried the Jet and even though it's resistive, it feel like a capacitive screen! I guess you really do have to try it yourself to find out. And I'm sure the price will drop like hot potato after a month or so

... just another Samsung, every week a new model... It would take a few days to compare their phones, if I would want to buy one... :-P

Sigh! If it had a capacitive screen and not a resistive one I would have been sold to this. Also a bigger screen for qwerty messaging would have had more sense for that amount of cash. Just saying.. =)
