Apple announces Final Cut Camera 2.0 with ProRes RAW, genlock support
Apple has announced a new version of the Final Cut Camera app for iOS, bringing features designed specifically for the newly launched iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max.
With Final Cut Camera 2.0, users on the iPhone 17 Pro series gain support for ProRes RAW and genlock, while the entire iPhone 17 lineup benefits from new manual controls for the front camera.
Apple has included open gate recording support in the new update, which lets users record footage using the entire camera sensor at resolutions higher than DCI 4K. This means you can record in horizontal or vertical orientation without having to turn the phone.
The update will also bring support for Apple Log 2 that’s available on the iPhone 17 Pro models. Users will also be able to enable Timecode options and shoot videos using the telephoto camera in ProRes at up to 4K60 fps.
