Apple unveiled the latest version of its professional video editing software, Final Cut Pro 11. The new release includes a host of new features, including an AI masking tool, automatic caption generation and spatial video editing.

Final Cut Pro 11’s Magnetic Mask allows users to isolate people or objects in a clip without a green screen.

The new Final Cut Pro 11 will also let users edit spatial video captured via the iPhone 15 Pro series, iPhone 16 series or Canon R7 paired with an RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens. Users can import spatial video footage, add effects, make color corrections and adjust depth positions. Final Cut Pro 11 will also show left and right eye angles on supported Mac displays and will also work on the Vision Pro.

Apple’s new Final Cut Pro 11 will run on all Macs with macOS Sonoma with at least 8GB RAM, though some features will require Apple Silicon chips.

Apple is also pushing an update to the Final Cut iPad app with Final Cut Pro 2.1, which will require an M1 chip or later or an iPad mini (A17 Pro) and iPadOS 17.6 or later.

The iPad version gains Enhance Light and Color features, allowing for precise color, color balance, contrast, and brightness corrections. Apple also added a new vertical pinch gesture for expanding and minimizing clip height in the timeline.
