i have one of these, its got some issues like the low storage capacity, older SoC, dated design, but its actually pretty nice having a home button and headphone jack. i might upgrade next year, but for someone like me who just uses it for youtube, web browsing and some light games its still completley fine

Most of these issues have a solution such as silicone covers for the Apple Pencil cap and If you don’t like the tablet then don’t use it or get a Pro model? It’s the base model for a reason 💀. Also it’s apple, they more on the restrictive side😭.

2010 called, they want their tablet back:
as someone who had to use on of these for school, i can tell you, it is a terrible choice and i would never recommend it. a 6 core processor with 2 power cores (2.5Ghz) and just 3gb(! - some have 32) is just not enough. it even crashes on office apps when handling many or big files (when you have scanned large irl files, it sometimes woont display it). the 32gb ssd is just a joke (install genshin and its full) - on some computers this the ram size. the optional pencil is a failure from the ground up: you have to take off the cap (and probably loose it) and put it backwards in to the pad (???). another problem is the crappy design: a physical home button (?), a front mounted fingerprint sensor (just bring it to the side or under the display?), the asymmetrical bezels, no rounded screen-corners and the "side"-mounted camera (i had mine mostly in landscape in a stand-case). last but not least the software is terrible alt-tab, double-tap app overview button or a bottom-screen swipe were non-existent. u had to double-tap the giant home button, then select an app. multi-app was limited to two windows. ios is nothing compared to windows or linux. furthermore the bootloader was locked, so loading another os (like phoenixos) was not possible.
just spend something more on a galaxy tab fe or xiaomi pad.

My first apple device and it's impressively smooth and fuss-free. Bought for $450 AUD in 2021 second hand but unopened. A good price. Suspect it was an unwanted gift or came with a phone contract bundle. Was purchased to use an IOS-specific app for work but it's mainly been a spare device set up to run YT, Chrome etc. Also works well as a second monitor for mobile productivity with a laptop. Works well with a keyboard as a 1kg hiking and travel laptop replacement. Plan is to use it with IOS-specific aviation apps.

I got one of these for Christmas of 2020. Was really reliable, was definitely put down by the 32gb of storage in mine. Was great for games before i got a ThinkPad T530 the summer of '21, but it was good when I used it. It was noticably weaker structurally compared to my previous iPad 4, because it shattered after falling 3ft after a sibling pulled the headphone cord. Apple are didn't help, and made me pay $270 for just a new digitizer. I did pull it out a few months ago to use for movies while traveling, but the storage filled up completely from old photos I cannot delete, because I still have to back them up. Overall, a great tablet (if you get 128 or 256gb).

Update with IPadOS 16.1: the device feels smoother with many bugs not being there anymore. The weather app is made better etc. the only bad thing is that you can’t customize the Lock Screen. Another thing is that the fingerprint sensor is way more reliable and faster.

had tons of ios devices and the last one i had dust problem was iphone 3gs witch had separable screen
