Anonymous, 15 Apr 2022yeah in benchmarks many 8 gen 1 phones beat the ipad air, a... more8 gen 1 vs M1.
1. 8g1 drain more battery compared to m1.
2. graphics M1 better then 8g1, Cpu almost same.
3. 8g1 4nm, M1 5nm
4. 8g1 faster ram type ddr5 vs ddr4 on M1
5. m1 uses unified memory type, thus ram is much faster even if its ddr4.
6. m1 bigger cache
7. m1 have neutral engine + decoder build in, so will be much faster for some niche apps.
Overall M1 is better benchmarks then 8g1 in most cases.
So its A15 < 8g1 < M1.

Harry V, 10 Apr 2022I know it's fast, but for me, the CPU speed is literal... moreME performance is nuts, way faster than Snapdragon 865 in android tablets, even Intel chips. In a video, I heard that for 600, the iPad Air is the fastest device.

Anonymous, 18 Mar 2022I would go for pro 11. Not for promotion, but 64 gb doesn... moreAhh but the thing is, the iPad pro is 750 which is expensive. I have a solution, you can get the 2021 iPad Pro, which is around iPad air money, and you get 128GB, and other upgrades such as Ultra wide camera, stereo speakers, 120Hz. 😊

The Critic , 17 Mar 2022Come on apple its 2022. Long time fans deserve a 128GB opti... moreYes, you are right. Now we are stuck between the 64GB iPad air which offers lots of features for 599, and the very important extra storage on the $750 256GB. But then we could get the Pro for a bit more, and get Stereo speakers, Ultra wide camera, 120hz e.t.c.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2022It is the Apple M1. Once others hear that, they know it is ... moreyeah in benchmarks many 8 gen 1 phones beat the ipad air, and some have similar/equal scores. its impressive that the 8 gen 1 competes with the M1 from apple, even tho the m1 is more suited as a laptop chipset, and not so much as a phone/tablet chipset (battery drain). so good job qualcomm!

Bionic Chip, 28 Mar 2022It would be very nice (I wish) that Apple would add a dual-... moreDo not think iPad will get MacOS.
For multi-desktop, like you said, compulsory keyboard and mouse, or the UI and apps have to change once keyboard and mouse is attached.
As of now, most apps are designed for touch.. they will have to get some Mac pro apps over first, like XCode, or Final cut.. then maybe attract third party fps games like DOOM to make full use of the keyboard / mouse combo, or even make genshin impact keyboard and mouse compatible on iPad.
So i guess maybe iPadOS 16 improve UI when keyboard and mouse is attached. Then iPadOS 17 maybe multi-desktop. By then, you will see M2 or M3 iPads.. that is more capable of running 2 or 3 desktops.
As for now, don’t buy iPads to think it can replace laptops. But as a companion to Mac. As sidecar / universal control / markup.

It would be very nice (I wish) that Apple would add a dual-boot option on M1 iPads, since they are very capable of running macOS at this point. Plus, the keyboard and mouse support is improving. I tested my iPad with the latest iPad OS 15 the other day and I felt that as if I am using a laptop with all the Bluetooth keyboard and stuff.
The only problem is that iPad OS only supports screen mirroring; no extension. And most iPad apps have very limited features compared to their macOS counterparts. And, if Apple decides to include macOS boot option on upcoming iPads, I would certainly ditch my laptop and desktops.

I purchased the iPad Air 5 this week and the battery life sucks. I was reading the news on safari and the battery went from 100% to 17% in 2 hours. Brightness was at 50% and no other apps were open. I will be returning it tomorrow.

Harry V, 22 Mar 2022what's even the CPU Speed? It matters trust meIt is the Apple M1. Once others hear that, they know it is the fastest chip ever for mobile. Trust them.
Knowing clock speed is meaningless.. Like an intel 4th gen running 2.4ghz lose to intel 8 gen running 1.2ghz. Better gauge is benchmarks, whereby you test everything.

rAY, 15 Mar 2022With the M1 chip, this tablet is insanely good for it'... moreNo, the value isn't good. As you said it yourself, 64 GB is very limited, especially when some of the storage is used by the OS. 128 GB will be enough for most people. And as you also said, if you'll buy the 256 GB, it's better to buy the iPad Pro.

I'm wondering why this iPad Air 5 (2022) has 120fps on Genshin Impact but this iPad don't have/support ProMotion 120hz. Also wondering if it is an LTPO 60hz? just watch GoldenReviewer https://youtu.be/lErl_RbXmik
