Apple iPad mini Wi-Fi + Cellular

Having a tablet with voice calls doesn't make sense to me. voice calls take a lot of battery power. I would rather have a device with 10 hour battery and no phone. I have a cheap nokia that can only phone and I use my iPad for everything else.

You know for me, I need a quality phone. I drop phones a lot. I am a clumpsy guy. I like having portibable things, as technology improved over the years, phones were getting smaller, and more advanced. I also like quality product. A s3 for me, I be doomed in the 1st week. I've heard night mare stories of customers droping their s3, and a broken glass with 2 feet drop. Heard another story about some guy dropping it onto their carpet, and crashed. S3 is not for me. It's cheaply made, and over sized for one. They lack good apps, and the light is dim. I have bad eyes. I need a bright screen. S3 is a failure of a phone. I can't believe Samsung fooled so many customers into buying their phone.
You know. You should get the note 2 bro. Nice and big for your tiny eyes.

I was hoping that iPad mini would include a phone. It doesn't make sense for me to carry both phone and pad, and Galaxy Note proved to be a good combination for me. In fact, iPhone is too small for me, too small for my eyesight, and touch-keyboard too small for my fleshy and inaccurate fingers. I would never carry a phone in my pocket - I always have a small bag with me - so size is only an advantage. I could not switch to iPhone although I am not fully satisfied with the Android experience. Apple's "one size fits all" policy may have been valid in 1950's communist China where everybody had to wear the same dress, but not now. I can not switch to iPhone if they don't offer a phone with physical keyboard or bigger screen.

Good evening! i am going to buy an ipad mini wifi+cellular, but i am confused with one question. Are this ipad (in the official online apple store for 459$) locked for american networks like iphone ? Or all of them are unlocked? I live in Kazakhstan and i want to know if network will work in my country.

1. Lacking GSM voice communication.

im very confused now. i want to buy a phone but somehow i got to think of getting a cheap samsung phone and buy an ipad ... then i got to encountered a new samsung tab that could be a phone at the same time. i want to get an ipad because of its apps anyway. my priority is its apps. but i got to think that i cant watch flash vids with iOS. so shud i get a tab bcuz i like to watch flash vids.

Extra ram is only there when a device does more than the previous device, and IOS pretty much hasn't moved or improved in 6 years so why give extra ram to something that was created in 2006?

I'm a user of Galaxy Note 10.1 for 3 months... I am not happy with Android tablets! Apple iPad is far better, more fluid... best user experience. Just purchased an iPad mini and sold my Galaxy Note 10.1. No regrets. Apple rocks!

Just tell me what is purpose of a tablet? It's basically there to replace a notepad and a notepad is there as a portable computer, and a computer is there as the central hub for all your digital devices.
Now an iPad can't connect to anything else because of Apple's restrictions and lack of multitasking makes a device useless and connectivity makes a device useless when you looking to do anything more than the absolute basics.
And Android is a resource hog because with multitasking and widgets it can be doing dozens of different tasks at once and you don't even realise because it is optimised to have multiple capabilities not just one thing at a time and because iPad only has to do 1 thing it can be optimised to run faster on that single task so Android tablets need a lot more power to seem like it's running as fast.

[deleted post]Dude you wasting your time pointing out the lack of multitasking because yeah that would bring iPad up to a whole new level that even I would consider buying, but people buy iPad simply because it's made by Apple and people just don't want to admit that it is purely just an iPhone with a bigger screen, I mean I know a lot of people who have to carry iPhone, iPad and Mac Book because when 1 Apple device can't do something they have to carry more and more Apple devices to make up for it's deficiencies.
And the fact is that with Android you can never say never because even with my S3 pretty much anything I want I can make it do.

So basically it is just a big iPhone with less features even than the phone, and I just don't see the point in giving something such a big screen and promote it as a replacement of a notebook but it actually just seems like a few steps up from a digital picture frame.

I think the iPad mini is AMAZING! If I were you, I would actually GO OUT AND TRY ONE before posting your opinions. They include over 250,000 apps so I cant see why people are saying that there is limited apps. Im getting one for Christmas...so basically my opinion is that they're worth buying.

.....google has already discontinued it's maps & Youtube support for all Apple gadgets after lawsuit.
Huh ! No gsm voice support, no memory card support means lesser appl support unlike galaxy tab 2 p3100.
