Long version: given that the iPhone 11 is at its last leg now and your 14 is three years ahead, then it should be fine by 2028.
I know someone who comfortably bought the 14 this year, so you can do it too.

Edward, 11 Oct 2025Poco f7 have better battery life then iphone 14 In terms of weight and size, the Poco F7 is a mini tablet, if you compare it to the iPhone 14. The two phones belong to completely different categories.

Battery life really sucks my battery health dropped from 94% to 88% in just a few weeks.
I guess it’s because I used to charge it with a duplicate multi-plug, which probably drained it faster. These days I avoid charging that way, and overall everything’s fine. Still, I’m planning to upgrade to the iPhone 14 Pro mainly for the Dynamic Island and LiDAR sensor.

After several months of using my iPhone, I finally discovered a reliable method to transfer music and other files directly to the internal storage, without being tied to restrictive apps or cloud services. At first, I relied on MEGA, since it allows offline downloads. However, the main issue with MEGA is that the files are not saved in the iPhone’s actual storage but within the app’s data. This means that once you delete the app, all the downloaded songs or files disappear as well. To make matters worse, MEGA recently introduced a limitation: any file larger than 5 GB now requires a paid subscription. That quickly became frustrating and pushed me to search for better alternatives.
The method I found works by using a Samsung alongside the iPhone 14, and the process is much simpler than I expected. On the Android device, I installed ES File Manager. From there, I selected the folder or files I wanted to transfer, tapped on “Share,” and then chose QuickShare. Instead of sending the files directly, QuickShare gives the option to generate either a link or a QR code. Once the upload begins, a notification appears, and tapping it reveals the QR code for the transfer.
On the iPhone side, all I had to do was open the Camera app and scan that QR code. A link appeared instantly on the screen, and I opened it using my browser (in my case, Brave). From the browser, the files were available to download. One thing I noticed is that downloading too many files at once can cause errors, so I recommend grabbing about 10 files at a time for smooth transfers.
Once the downloads finish, the files are stored within the iPhone’s Files app, specifically under Brave/Downloads. At this point, it’s very important to organize them. Since they are still inside the browser’s storage, deleting the browser will also erase the files. To avoid this, I created a separate folder directly in the Files app, selected all my downloads, and moved them into that folder. Afterward, I transferred the entire folder from the browser’s download directory into the iPhone’s internal storage. This way, the files stay permanently on the device, safe from accidental loss.
QuickShare does have a limitation of 10 GB per day, but in practice, that’s more than enough for music, videos, or documents you might want to move over. Overall, this method feels like a solid workaround that doesn’t require cables or third-party apps with annoying restrictions.

Gus, 03 Jul 2025I cant comment in iphone 14 as ive just bought one but wait... moreI’m not too sure what you mean by “averaged 1.04 charge cycles every day” and if your 8 Plus is still 100% battery health after 11 months then it may be erroneous like on my mum’s 8 Plus. She’s been using hers since ~September 2021 (like I have with mine) and it’s still showing 100% battery health which just can’t be right. Mine is down to 81% now. And yeah it does seem to drop somewhat faster when fast charging it unfortunately.

Gus, 03 Jul 2025I cant comment in iphone 14 as ive just bought one but wait... moreSlow charging may be better for the long-term battery health, you’ve got a point. For years I was charging my 8 Plus (and my old 6 Plus) at the standard 5V 1A 5W but I recently bought the Apple 20W USB-C charger and I use that now. It charges so much faster. I still try to stop charging before 90% so 89% max and ideally I’d also start charging it before it gets down to 40% but the latter doesn’t happen as often as the former. The 5V 1A 5W charging was a bit too slow for my liking. A new battery shouldn’t cost much anyway. A new battery for my old 6 Plus wasn’t super expensive, it was like $60 AUD or less from memory. I’m down to 81% battery health and I got the phone in September 2021.
The 8 Plus is a pretty good phone aye?

John, 28 Jun 2024My battery is at a 100% after 9 months. i do charge with a ... moreI cant comment in iphone 14 as ive just bought one but waiting on case and screen protector before i use it. However, I would like to share a similar experience. 11 months ago i bought an iphone 8 plus from a refurbishing site with a 100% battery health. I have averaged 1.04 charge cycles every day over the past 11 months and i too still have 100% battery health. I use Apples 5 watt wall charger and i generally keep within the window of 20 to 80 % state of charge. Similarly, my previous phone a Motorola android was charged through a desktop usb that had 500mA (about 2.5 watts) and the phone lasted me 7 years without battery issues. (and i still use it with mainly as a scientific calculator). I am going to continue low power charging as i want to keep this phone a long while. The direction of fast charging is leading to more heat in charging than before. Heat kills electronics and degrades batteries. Fast charge is great for convenience for those who need it or are impatient and great for consumerism (profits).

The display is terrible for the price — the image quality is really bad. The camera isn’t even as good as a cheap phone’s; it’s extremely blurry. The battery life is honestly awful, and it gets as hot as a bomb when charging (I even have to remove the thin case every time I charge it). Features keep getting restricted with each update, and the closed nature of the operating system is genuinely frustrating.
Even though people praise its durability, it’s actually quite fragile — the glass back breaks easily and the frame’s paint scratches very easily. It’s clearly focused on optimizing iOS effects rather than the actual apps, which makes me laugh every time the words ‘game mode’ pop up. Whenever a special in-game effect appears (like an explosion or fireworks), the iPhone only realizes what’s important when it’s already too late — it freezes for 1–2 seconds.
I bought it for $600, and at that price, you should definitely consider other phones instead.
