Chiron, 13 Sep 2023Now that the weight is like 10% lower than the 14 pro max, ... moreI'd definitely use the 15 Pro Max, however I'd probably also want a developer Apple account so I could sideload things I want (if sideloading isn't region locked).

Now that the weight is like 10% lower than the 14 pro max, I would consider going for this. USB- C port sounds awesome too on this. 60hz refresh rate is a downgrade from the previous versions. It should atleast have a 90hz.

FlarosOverfield, 13 Sep 2023Before 2016 censored all of them, thousands of famous Windo... more- I'm not really sure why a ton of apps being replaced by web wrappers is Google's fault? I'd imagine it's mainly other devs who make their apps web wrappers, and I wouldn't exactly take the claims of other people about Google preventing Microsoft doing that to be fact.

          - I think you didn't exactly understand the analogy I tried to make, so I'll try and make it simpler. If an app you like suddenly doesn't get updates anymore, would it be safer to assume that the developer doesn't want to update the app, or that the platform the app was on is forcing them to stop updating it? On top of that, since you mentioned custom ROMs, that is also often an issue with the manufacturer for not providing source code. That's the reason why brands like Google have many ROMs, meanwhile brands like Samsung and Mediatek-based phones usually don't.

          - I'm not really sure of phones that don't let you enter contacts? My phones I have do, so that might have been a very rare bug, in which you should report if it consists and other people have similar issues.

          - I don't have the time to look at them right now, but I'm not denying it.

          - Fastboot isn't the reason people get stuck in fastboot mode. It's usually caused due to user error while installing custom ROMs, or hardware failure. It's also not just a Google thing, pretty much every Android phone has it, and it's used to unlock the bootloader. It's like if I claimed that the Recovery Mode on iPhones bricked the device, because if there's enough data corruption or hardware failure an iPhone will either not boot or be stuck in Recovery Mode.

I was one of them. No one listened.

The Linux Distro analogy is the worst one i have ever seen in my entire life. X86 machines have BIOS and UEFI, which means the user has the RIGHT to install whatever they want. On ARM Android devices, changing "distro" is 99% of the time impossible. Asus tried to create an X86 phone to fight this, and they got laughed at. Just look at XDA, they are PANICKING.

If a phone cannot use my contacts, it's not a phone in my book.

Yes, you can theoretically use Fastboot on Google phones. IF you want to risk bricking them. Search "Google Pixel stuck in Fastboot mode".

FlarosOverfield, 13 Sep 2023Think about it for a second. Why did Google ban Windows Pho... moreI'll think about it.

"Why did Google ban Windows Phone from having any and all apps that used Google services, such as Youtube, and force Microsoft to shut down Lumia?"
I'm not sure what you mean by "Ban". I don't recall Google forcefully shutting down any Windows phone alternatives. If you know of one, let me know. Windows Phone was a competing OS that already didn't have a large following, it would not have made a lot of sense for Google to work on apps for dying competition.

"Why do 99% of Android phones only get 6 months of updates?"
Not sure where the 99% number is from, but that also depends on the manufacturer. For example, Google provides upwards of 5 years of software updates, and brands like Fairphone provide far more. On the other hand, brands like Ulefone likely won't provide as many updates, which isn't Google's fault, it's the fault of the company for not actually working on updates. Google doesn't push updates for OxygenOS, OneUI or MIUI. Think of it like a Linux distro, if a distro you like doesn't get any more updates, is it the fault of the developer, or the Linux foundation?

"Why do half of all bugs in Android seem to revolve around the function of a "Phone" rather than a "Smart" phone? (calls, contact syncing, etc)"
Again, I'm not really sure where you're getting this from. Maybe you don't use a lot of apps, and use more of the pre-installed apps on your device, but I find a lot of bugs I face come from the incompetence of developers (ex. Discord's utter incompetence with their new client).

"Why does Google collect 27 times more data than Apple, something that even Louis Rossmann is furious about?"
That is something I have hardly any knowledge of, but 27x seems like a large number. I'll have to check Louis's video on that, because I haven't seen a lot of his Pixel videos.

"Why do all Android phones boast "customization" but then make it nearly impossible to unlock the bootloader, something that x86 figured out 40 years ago?"
It's very possible to unlock the bootloader, but it depends on the manufacturer. For example, Google makes it very easy to do so (just via fastboot), but companies like HTC and LG required you to get a code, and some like ZTE and TCL never let you. It can also vary on carrier, as some, like T-Mobile, won't let you unlock the bootloader unless you ask them.

Think about it. Or maybe don't, you will find the rabbit hole rather unpleasant.

[deleted post]I enjoy Android and iOS equally, I've been a user of both for many years without significant issue. I'm just confused because you seemingly made the claim that Google is trying to kill a majority of the phone industry? Your example was the ROG Phone 7 having freezing issues, but the Pixel 7 has had worse, even failing to dial 911! Why would Google attempt to kill the majority of the phone industry including their own?
