I discarded 12 mini bc of the battery and the 13 mini is 2x more expensive than XS (same for 11 pro)
Plus, im not so sure about the flat edges on those

I have an SE 2020, been thinking to 'upgrade' (I know is and older model) to this specifically for its size, do you think its a good idea?
I've also looked on android but so far only the S10e caught my attention

That means is 1 year usage phone. Maximum 2 if you don't care about IOS updates, because Apple will release some security updates for this models 1 year after they stop IOS updates.
But from what I remember iPhone Xs is bad phone in battery. I had one for short time, and it had 94-95% battery health. Still, I charge it twice a day with moderate usage. And that is bad considering it is charging in about 90 minutes. Also, it got quite hot in video calling (FaceTime or WhatsApp), maybe because of the small size.
I will not recommend this phone in 2024, unless you absolutely want the cheapest iPhone with oled display that still has updated software. Even something like iPhone 11 is better than this phone because it will be 2-3 years usage phone. And is almost similar priced in second hand markets. Of course is not oled, but has better chipset, better cameras and better battery.
