ARM's next-generation GPU to provide 30% better performance than Mali-G710
During a developer summit, ARM's senior technical director of the company's machine learning business talked about the flagship GPU that should launch in 2022. The name of the GPU wasn't confirmed but we were promised a big improvement over the Mali-G710 to the tune of 30%.
In addition to the 30% jump in raw computing power, the GPU is said to be more efficient for machine learning-related tasks and will feature FP32 4.7 times greater than the Mali-G76. It's important to note that the current Mali-G710 GPU brought about 35% jump in computing power compared to its predecessor.
In a joint effort with MediaTek and Tencent Games, ARM was able to develop a GPU that could meet the demand for mobile ray tracing and the best part is that the tech can be ported to other platforms and ecosystems.
