AnonD-173249, 26 Sep 2013does anybody having overheat issue? especially near the cam... moreYes it gets hot when all the four cores are running. Riptide is a game with good graphics, so it does heat up a little. The upper half portion gets heated up. I noticed the heating thing while playing modern combat 4. But I don't think heating is an issue here. The heating is moderate. My htc sensation xe burnt like hell when playing heavy graphix games. Even PCs get heated up when playing good graphic games :-)

I have had my 2013 Nexus 7 now for a little over a month, and I have to say it is one of the best things I have ever spent money on! (Besides my computer that is =P) As soon as I got home I went straight into geek mode and started downloading all the benchmarks I use when testing a new device, and the results where phonominal! I compared the scores I got to the scores from when I tested my Samsung Galaxy S3 when I first got that, and considering the Nexus is around £200 cheaper to buy from new, it beat the S3 on every score! I think overall the Nexus is around 30-40% more powerful than the S3!

I use 3D Mark quite often, and so for that reason I shall now list the average scores for the S3, Ipad 4, 2012 Nexus 7 and 2013 Nexus 7. You can then decide for yourself what you think. =)

    2012 Nexus 7 - 3252
    S3 - 4728
    2013 Nexus 7 - 10542
    Ipad 4 - 10605

As you can clearly see, the difference in scores between the Ipad 4 and Nexus 7 is marginal. So the Ipad, which is £399 for the 16gb model and £479 for the 32gb model, is nearly beaten by a £200 budget tablet. Enough said I think.

I have the 32gb version of the new Nexus 7, which is slightly more expensive at £239, but it is still worth every penny. And still a hell of a lot cheaper than the Ipad. Now, many people are complaining that the lack of a micro SD card slot is extremly dissapointing, whihc it is I won't deny, but if you spend the extra £40 and get the 32gb model there is more than enough space for your needs. the 32gb model comes with around 26gb of available storage, with which I have manged to store my favourite albums (About 5gb), a few movies (10gb), and a load of games and apps with plenty of storage left spare. So if storage is a concern, just get the 32gb version. I also use Flixter for most of my movies, using the Ultraviolet feature. I have a collection of around 50 movies thaT I can call upon at any time using my phone as a portable wifi hotspot, and so if you have a phone that has this function, you dont need to worry about buying the LTE version either!

I'm going to talk a little now about the screen, because it would be a crime not to.

The screen on the Nexus 7 is absolutely stunning, with crisp, clear colours, deep blacks and and ultrabright backlight, it almost pains me to touch the damn thing! It actually has one of the brightest screens on the market today, besting the likes of the Iphone and Ipad. The 1920 x 1200 resolution of the screen is a little misleading. Yes, the screen does have that resolution, but the bar at the bottom of the screen that houses the home, back and multitask buttons uses up some of that space, leaving you with an actual resolution of 1920 x 1100 (Or there abouts) when in portrait mode. In landscape the abr uses even more! But, that being said, when playing a game or watching a movie, etc, the bar dissapears leaving you to enjoy the full beauty of the HD display. I simply cannot stress just how beutiful this display actaully is, you need to experience it for yourself to appreciate it.

The design of the device is simplistic but gorgeous in my oppinion. I prefer a simple looking device over something that tries to make sure you know it's there. With its soft feel back and all glass front, it is strikingly elegant. it is something that I can take out in public and no-one would know it was a cheaper tablet. The size is perfect, and although I wouldnt like to have to hold it in one hand for prolonged periods of time, the simple fact is you can hold it in one hand. you can even fit it into your trouser pockets without it feeling like its wedged in there, it simply slides in.

All in all, this is a truly remarkable device, that without a doubt is going to cause quite a stirr in the tablet market. Only one other device has recieved this much praise, and that is the 2013 Nexus's older brother. But for google to have crammed so much high end hardware into such a small tablet, and then sell it at a ridiculously low price for what it is, I reckon other manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple and Sony are going to have to up thier game, alot. Never let it be said that Google don't know how to rock the boat once in awhile!

AnonD-173249, 26 Sep 2013does anybody having overheat issue? especially near the cam... moreThe Nexus 7's SOC is located near the camera I believe, which is why you will commonly notice heat originating from that area. I have yet to disassemble mine to take a look. =)

But as far as overheating is concerned, are you sure it's getting too hot, or are you simply being a little overcautious? You have to remember that unlike a computer, there is no heatsink per se on tablets and mobile devices, and the only way for them to dissipate heat is to heat up the material surrounding it so that the air can get to it. The design of the device allows for this.

My Nexus 7 does get hot relativly quickly, but it doesnt bother me as I expect this. It is nothing to worry about. Unelss of course it gets so hot that either you can no longer hold the device, or if the device starts to lag noticeably. In this case you should immediately switch off the device and leave it to cool, and if need be contact the place you bough it from about a possible malfunctioning device.

I also play riptide GP (1+2) and the device does get very hot, but remeber that riptide is an intensive game, and so the SOC will probably be running at maxiumum capacity while you play the game. Heat is expected. =)

Or it can ... moreno calls no messages no texting -- all tablets --all ipads.. cellular connection only for data .. skype shall work though ..we had this info from techgeeks today ..in fact- either buy a phablet- like samsung mega 6.3 or sony or asus fonepad etc.. our conclusion is that samsung offer best overall specs for at least 2yrs from purchase on newer models -- if u wonna replace ur laptop -then perhaps google chromebook ..

Since Nexus Media Importer supports only read only capabilities, so there is another way to write the files to USB keeping your Nexus in non rooted condition. Download Total Commander App from Play Store. After downloading , download its plugin 'USB stick plugin - tc' from play store, connect USB via otg, open total commander app and there you will see the explorer directory for your USB with read and write capabilities :-)
