The software that runs the tablet is called FIRMWARE. You can replace the slow Factory (OEM) firmware with a suitable replacement that runs much, MUCH Faster! There are many out there but the best I found is called KATKISS.

Here is a link for KATKISS running Android 6.0:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/transformer-tf700/rom-t3282166

A more recent version of KATKISS that runs and installs Android 7.0:

Follow the install instructions and you can breath NEW life into this old tablet. Once you have unlocked your tablet and installed on of these ROM's, you can use it or Gift it to someone less tech knowledgeable than you and they will appreciate it!

If you have NEVER installed a ROM (firmware) before, READ this article:

If you have the urge to replace the battery on one of these, here is a link to how to take it apart - Steps are well illustrated with MANY pictures posted:

satiricon, 14 Feb 2020More than 8 year after the initial release i'm still using ... moreI am still disappointed to this day on the purchase of this tablet. I bout it with the docking keyboard. I bought after researching all the tech mags, and websites that gave it rave reviews. The reviews a few months later reflected what I was experiencing. Bloatware, and the hardware made the thing a useless paper weight. Asus knew all the problems with tablet and offered no resolution even under warranty. Even though it was a thousand dollar wast of money back then I kind of feel like using it again after giving up on it after less than a year of use.

More than 8 year after the initial release i'm still using my TF700T. Granted you can't have the latest android and all the latest apps. But for reading and watching HD movies it still pretty good.

That gets rid of the bottleneck that causes the TF700T to run so slowly. It takes some doing however, but I did it to mine and now my tablet runs very well. Do a Google for "Custom TF700T ROM F2FS support".

I have struggled with the performance issue of the TF700T for about two years. Installing the CROMi-X custom ROM helped a little. Today I discovered that almost all my performance issues go away when the keyboard dock is removed. Wow! No the thing behaves like a real tablet! :)

This is a well built tablet but seriously lacks performance in all areas, out of the box.
With a clever ROM swap and an overclocking, this tablet is quite zippy with the exception of the total garbage network card that just refuses to move data at a viable rate.

I own a TF700t and also an older TF101. I'm happy with with my TF700, but yes, 2g memory is better than 1g (the tf701 has 2g but also -- even used -- is more expensive). I bought my TF700 on ebay for 230 dollars, with keyboard included. Yes, running stock Jelly Bean it lagged badly sometimes. Being a lover of custom roms anyway, I immediately installed Crombi-KK and then Zombi-X. Both are very good, much speedier, alternatives and based on the KitKat Rom instead of older Jelly Bean (where Asus left this machine). My own recommendation? If you want a very inexpensive tablet and keyboard, you cannot go wrong with the TF700. If you have a few more bucks, go for the the TF701 and its 2g of memory. And do ask yourself - For what tasks am I using this tablet? I use mine for extensive web surfing and for Bible study (the Mysword deluxe version is awesome and there are massive numbers of free downloads of commentaries and the like). So... four stars from me, it would be five if the TF700 had 2g memory.

I own the Asus TF700T tablet for two years now. It is a nice piece of hardware, but its default software is very bad. I recommend to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP recovery, and replace the stock Asus ROM with CROMBi-kk ROM which is Android 4.4.3 KitKat. It has much better performance.

You can additionally insert a fast microSD card (class 10) into the microSD card slot, and install the CROMBi-kk ROM with the optional ROM2SD feature onto the microSD card, disk access time are then much better, which makes installing and upgrading applications much faster.

This tablet looks nice. The UI is cool ,but it's not worth it. It lags so much no matter what you do. I can hardly do anything on it without getting very frustrated. My phone that is a year older runs faster than it. This product is awful. I will probably never get a mobile Asus product again.

                                      It eats apples for breakfast.

I do enjoy my tf700t, and would'nt change it to any of iPods.
Here many negative things are writen
about this tablet. I dont know people, what did you do to your poor gadgets, but mine with the latest ics update works perfectly! There are no apk crashes or a browser delays. I use Opera, and happy about it. My tip to you guys: -Check very carefuly what you're installing to your device! Read the notes, -what the other users think about current software.
I saw here some opinions, that 1gb of ddr3 isnt enough for tf700, but I disagree, for Android OS its more than enough! But for Win8 based asus tablets, just poor.
