This is not arguing about the quality yet, but I can only relate that it is either get cons by seller, or lazy to do study.
On paper and specs wise, this is actually much inferior than Sony Xperia Z, and someone even if really want to do downgrade, you cannot expect it will outperform the flagship smartphone that was owned before, where this smartphone just cost a fraction of the Xperia Z.
I do admit per quality wise, this is a bad variant of ASUS smartphone, and they were too late to release Snapdragon version to cover up their mess, where the Snapdragon version actually works ok, but one just cannot expect an almost entry level midrange works better.
If one really want to pick a better midrange at that time, might look into Motorola or Google offering, or pick something from Oneplus.

My second phone after Xperia Z. To be honest, one of the ugliest design on smartphone history. The reason i bought it was because the 4/64 gb configuration and intel hype. Jumping from xperia Z, battery life seems good but with today's standard, it's really horrible (only lasts me 3-4 hours per charge, if you watch youtube constantly, it would last you only 1,5 hours and don't get me started on playing games, i didn't play much mobile games back then so it was a relief). Conclusion, this phone made me stay away from any Asus smartphones.

im using asus ZE550ML for 2 week, i bought this phone to my co worker for only 500 pesos, He sold to me for the following reason; always hung up, the speaker is so bad sound and the battery it drains so fast when it reach to 50% the phone is automatically shut down..The first thing im try is to hard reset using the power & the volume key but im failed for 7 times. Now im try reset at the setting and i suprising that i made it. I also replace the battery & the speaker and now the im really say that is back to brand new everything is ok

I suggest instead of asus go for huawei or oppo phones much better performance and build quality

An excellent and very underrated phone this is. I am using this ZE550ML more than 2 years without any lagging, yet it is super fast for this behemoth Intel processor. I even compared the practical performance with Galaxy S7 and iPhone 7 which was astonishing to see that it was clearly a competitor.

Pros: Camera excellent, interface nice
