Asus sheds some light on Zenfone 9 and 10's bootloader unlocking tool

A Zenfone 9 user contacted Asus' technical support regarding unlocking the bootloader on their smartphone, and in response, Asus said that bootloader unlocking would not be possible for Zenfone 9 and Zenfone 10. The bootloader unlocking tool is also unavailable, which suggests Asus would no longer allow bootloader unlocking on its smartphones. However, a response by the Taiwanese brand's PR representative to XDA-Developers' former Editor-in-Chief Mishaal Rahman is reassuring, even if it's still vague.

Rahman's Asus PR contact said that the company's customer support "misunderstood the situation," and while the unlock tool is currently unavailable, Asus is "allowing the possibility to unlock" the bootloader on its phones.

That's good news, but Asus has neither revealed the reason for the unavailability of the bootloader unlock tool nor has it provided any timeframe for the availability of this tool for the Zenfone 9 and Zenfone 10, so all that the users of these smartphones can do right now is wait for the Taiwanese tech company to release the bootloader unlocking tool again.

Asus excuses!!! Removing the tool to unlock bootloader already tells they will remove unlocking bootloader altogether.

Then shoo them away after telling them physical/water damage ain't covered by warranty else call the cops if they insists or tell them go to 3rd party repair to fix that damage.
