AT&T announces Samsung Strive and Sunburst, Pantech Link and Pursuit, some new services
Today AT&T introduced four new phones - Samsung Strive and Sunburst, Pantech Link and Pursuit. Those are the pioneers for the carrier's new product line of "quick messaging devices", based on new cloud sync and share services.
Samsung Strive is a compact vertical slider sporting 2 megapixel camera, 2.6" QVGA screen, sliding-out QWERTY keyboard, 3G connectivity with HSDPA support, Bluetooth, microSD expansion slot, full messaging package and social-networking suite. The Strive will launch on 21 March for 19.99 US dollars on a 2-year contract.
Samsung Sunburst is a full touchscreen device with a 3-inch WQVGA resistive display, a low-end camera, accelerometer sensor, GPS, Bluetooth and microSD slot. The Sunburst will offer various social-networking widgets and will also become available on 21 March for 39.99 US dollars on a 2-year contract.
The two Pantech devices are still pretty much a mystery, but it's clear the Link will be a slim candybar with full QWERTY keyboard, while the Pursuit will be full touchscreen phone with slide-out vertical QWERTY keypad. Both of them will become available this summer.
All of the new AT&T phones will be able to make use of the new exclusive AT&T services available for "quick messaging devices". AT&T Address Book and AT&T Mobile Share will allow the users to sync their contact online and share pictures and videos. The Mobile Share costs 10 US dollars/month and gives you 250MB of virtual storage and 50 transfers.
The last newly introduced service by AT&T is called Next Generation Messaging and offers advanced texting features such as threaded and group messaging, reply all options and a common inbox.
