B&O Beoplay H4 headphones combine Bluetooth listening with premium design

Maybe you missed out on the free B&O Beoplay H3 headphones that T-Mobile was handing out with the LG V20 and maybe the Beoplay H6 isn’t to your liking. If that’s the case, check out the new B&O Beoplay H4 cans.

Using the dedicated Beoplay app, you can adjust the tonality and sound staging of these over the ear headphones. The app is available for the Apple Watch as well as smartphones (iOS and Android). If you don’t want to use Bluetooth (v4.2, AAC codec is supported) then you can use your phone's 3.5mm headphone jack (a 1.2m/4ft long cable is supplied in the box).

B&O Beoplay H4

The Beoplay H4 were designed by Jakob Wagner, who also did the H6 and H3, among other things. The posh design includes lambskin leather for the headband and earcups, which are filled with memory foam, by the way. Finishing the look are polished and anodized aluminum elements.

The headphones pack 40mm drivers with a 20-20,000Hz frequency response. They weigh a hefty 235g and their 600mAh battery promises up to 19 hours of playback time over Bluetooth (it takes 2.5 hours to charge them back up). There are three control buttons on the headphones and one omnidirectional microphone.

B&O Beoplay H4

One last thing - price. A pair of B&O Beoplay H4 cans will set you back $300/€250. That matches the US price of the H6, but the H6 will set you back €300 in Europe. The H6 lacks Bluetooth, however, you needed the $400/€400 H7 if you wanted wireless playback.
