There is a problem with this phone. I work in wholesale GSM business and I noticed that about 40% of these phones are DOA (dead-on-arrival), most of them with software problems. The average rate of DOA is usually 10%, but 40% at this price level is a bit too much, I think.

I agree, the FW updates do a tremendous job to transforming this phone into a more competitive phone for the market. At least get FW 48 (which is what I have), and I guarantee that your outlook of this phone will change. Mine has and I can't think of a better phone for me to have right now.

If you say you have this phone and hate it then you obviously havent done the crucial thing and upgrade the firmware to FW 52!
Don't moan and go check the forums on the BQS webpage and you will find links to these updates and how to install them.
With all this info on updates I can't believe people still complain about this phone!!! I love mine and it surpasses the V3 and V3x I owned before one hundred fold.

It does come with a data cable in the retail package but it may be market dependent... so check with sales people before you buy. SX1 data cable will not work because the phones connection point has been changed adn hence all previous Siemens accessories won't work.

I am highly considering buying this phone, but can someone tell me if the pack includes a data cable? I live in a country that does not sell BQS and trying to source one elsewhere will be a little hard. By any chance does the SX1 data cable fit?

I´m wondering were xT$p (below) found the FW 62 update and were Nxsf (below) found the FW 52 update. I can´t find it and now i have 48 and it´s ok but i could be better. Please HELP!!

pure siemens..reminds me when i got the sl45i and next the sx1,witch was a perfect choice for me,i can feel this will be my next mobile,if it has radio,thumbnails,and at least arabic sms,it would be perfect though i dont need the language on the phone,some may send me sms with it so iam waiting for an aplication to do so...is there any?

this is the best i have ever had jus you need to update it and you will enjoy great things that ef81 offers.Sound is great much much better than nokia or samsung design is great to much much better than motorola v3 but you can feel the difference only when you have it in your hand (not with look)

Awesome phone, especially with the FW 62 update. It makes the phone more user friendly and with quicker menu speeds. The media player is vastly improved as well as the blutooth function. It is now the phone it should be and is well worth it.

This fone is great! After loadinging FW52 it has absolutely no problems, the menu speed is great and browsing as well as system stability has been vastly improved.
The best mobile I have ever owned... and thats saying a lot since I am a refugee... moving from one manufacturer to another with each new phone I get.

This really is a great phone. Lost of comments mentioned below are related to software problems, (released too early??) and have been fixed with the SVN48 version. looking forward to the next software update!
