Canalys: Global tablet shipments surged by 11% in Q3 2024

Tablets are enjoying somewhat of a resurgence since the beginning of 2024. Per Canalys' numbers, global tablet shipments totaled 37.4 million units in Q3, marking the third consecutive growth quarter in a row. Shipments are 11% year-over-year. That's after 18% year-over-year spike the previous quarter.

The boost comes from a few factors that converge simultaneously - Q3 coincides with the back-to-school seasonal demand, retailers have built up stock in anticipation of the holidays, and early discounts.

Breaking down the 37.4 million units, Apple sits in front with 13.5 million units shipped or 36% market share. Apple's iPad lineup just added the refreshed iPad mini with Apple Intelligence.

Samsung shipped nearly 7 million units for 18% of the market share. Lenovo, Huawei, and Xiaomi round up the top five with similar numbers.
