Check out the Nokia 7 Plus camera samples

Ivan, 26 February 2018

Yesterday Nokia unveiled the Nokia 7 Plus. It's Nokia's its first 18:9 but more importantly, it features an all-new dual camera. It's made up of two 12MP cameras, one wide and another 2x telephoto, which is a much better setup than the 13MP color and 13MP black and white cameras of the Nokia 8.

The main camera of the Nokia 7 Plus sounds a lot like the snappers on the Galaxy Note8 and Google Pixel 2 (and 2 XL) - 12MP resolution with large 1.4um pixels - but it lacks OIS. However it makes up for it slightly with an f/1.75 aperture, which is a tad wider than the f/1.8 aperture of the Pixel 2 and Galaxy Note8.

Here are samples captured in good light.

And here are two samples shot with the zoom f/2.6 camera.

We were able to snap a few low light shots with the Nokia 7 Plus and the Google Pixel 2 XL side by side. We'll refrain from commenting on the quality as the Nokia 7 Plus we have isn't review ready.

Next up we have a few low-light selfies from the Nokia 7 Plus - left - and Google Pixel 2 XL - right. The Nokia 7 Plus fired up its screen flash.

And here's a 4K video in which we jump from the main 12MP f/1.75 camera to the f/2.6 tele snapper. The lack of OIS is deeply felt - notice the shake.

There's no OIS, and the EIS is only OK. If you want video, I'd recommend a Samsung phone.
