Consumer Reports now recommends the MacBook Pro

The latest MacBook Pro is a really powerful notebook as always but for the first time there were concerns about its battery life. They were so strong that Consumer Reports ran tests and didn’t give the MacBook Pro its blessing for the first time in the history of the lineup.

After that Apple started working together with the organization to fix the problem. Consumer Reports said the battery life was inconsistent in all three devices - The 13” MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, the non-Touch Bar 13” notebook and the flagship with 15” display.

Apparently Apple found some inconsistency with how the tests were run - the company said Consumer Reports used a script that was deleting cache and this was not a typical consumer behavior. Apple asked CR to redo the test and apparently it went as expected from all sides - battery life was consistent.

During the collaboration Apple found a bug that was triggered during these tests with reloading icons. The Cupertino-based company says the fix is already up and you should download it so everything works properly.

Consumer Reports also acknowledged the fix and released a statement saying it now recommends the MacBook Pro.

If you are a MacBook Pro used and want to download the new software you have to sign up for the company’s Beta program. The working version is listed as macOS Sierra Version 10.12.3 Beta (16D25a).
