Deals: the best Black Friday week deals feature Android flagships, ARM-powered laptops

Peter, 24 November 2024

It may sound like a misnomer, but welcome to Black Friday week – here are the best smartphone, tablet and laptop deals, plus some smart wearables.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is under $1,000 if you get the 256GB variant. The 512GB model is a $120 upgrade.

Challenging the S24 Ultra for camera dominance is the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL, which is also under $1,000. However, this is with more RAM (16GB vs. 12GB) but less storage (128GB). Check out our head-to-head comparison for more details.

If you want a smaller phone, the Google Pixel 9 Pro has the exact same camera as the Pro XL. The 6.3” display keeps this model relatively compact.

From the cheaper offerings, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is under $500 for the base 8/128GB model. Note that you can buy the Galaxy Buds FE for $50 if you get them with the S24 FE. However, just the buds themselves are around $60 right now, so that last part is optional.

The new FE got larger with a 6.7” display. Again, Google offers a smaller alternative with the 6.3” Pixel 9. It doesn’t have a dedicated tele camera, but its main is the same as on the Pros with a 1/1.3” sensor and the ultra wide has a 48MP sensor.

We move to foldables next with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, which has a great $580 discount for the 12/256GB model.

The comparable Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is more expensive - $1,500 for a 16/256GB model.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE, a 10.9” tablet with the Exynos 1380 chipset, is 42% off for the base model with 128GB storage. You can expand that with a microSD, but note that this one only has 6GB of RAM (the 256GB variant has 8GB of RAM).

The larger Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, with a 12.4” display this time (both 90Hz IPS LCDs), is 33% off. This one has 8GB of RAM with all storage configurations.

Last week, we looked at some Apple computer deals, now the prices for certain Macs are even lower. You can pick up the 13” Apple MacBook Air with an M3 chip and 16GB of RAM for under $900. The 15” variant is $200 more.

There are ARM-powered Windows laptops too, like the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge. This variant is powered by the Snapdragon X Elite (8-core CPU). So, not the top Qualcomm chip, but it’s a 15.6” laptop for $700 (with more storage than the MacBook, but it’s soldered eUFS, so neither are upgradable).

Microsoft has the Surface Laptop line. The 13.8” model uses the Snapdragon X Plus in the base configuration (10-core CPU), but you can upgrade to the X Elite (12-core) and still keep the budget at $1,000.

The 15” model is only available with the Snapdragon X Elite model. Both feature 3:2” LCDs.

Alternatively, you can grab the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet with a Snapdragon X Plus or Elite – note that the Plus version has an LCD, while the Elite model uses an OLED display (both are 13” in size).

Finally, some Samsung smartwatches. The Samsung Galaxy Watch6 is the 2023 model and is around $150, depending on whether you want the 40mm or 44mm variant. The Watch FE is around the same price too, but the Watch6 is the better model with things like a newer chipset and blood pressure measurement.

You can also grab the Galaxy Watch6 Classic for $100 more if you are a fan of the hardware rotating bezel. That’s something the 2024 Watches don’t have.

Speaking of, the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 is actually cheaper than the Classic and it has a cutting edge 3nm chipset vs. 5nm on the Watch6.

There’s also the rugged Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra – it comes in only one configuration, 47mm with LTE connectivity.
