Dell discontinues Venue and Venue Pro in the US

29 March, 2012

Dell had to retire the Streak last year owing to poor sales of the device but it seems that misfortune was being shared by its stablemates as well. Dell has now discontinued the sales of the Android-based Venue and the Windows Phone-based Venue Pro in the US.

What's interesting to know, however, that Dell has no immediate plans to replace these phones or to continue in the US smartphone market at all. It did mention it will be launching some new phones in the US later this year but did not say if any of these devices will be smartphones.

If you don't live in the US, you don't have to worry as these devices will continue to be on sale, just like the Streak. For now, at least.

For some reason, PC manufacturers don't seem to have much luck with smartphones or tablets: Micorsoft with their Kin phones... HP with their pathetic takeover of Palm and WebOS... Lenovo, with their "LePhone" no one's ever heard of...

Maybe they would've seen much more success had they released the devices in more than just Best Buy and 1 Major Carrier.
