I actually own this phone, and one thing is sure: It is way better than my prev. android phones Even the more expensive ones (HTC, Samsung i5800). The speed is more than enough for everyday use and some gaming, and the other features make it the best droid phone currently. I bought it in Hungary for 105 USD, so the price written here is waaaaaaaay too much. You can have it from ebay for cca 170USD, and look for the name ZTE Blade, as this phone is made by ZTE and branded for Dell.

Sheldon, 30 Dec 2010Its not that easy bro. First of all delivery from UK to Ind... moreThe phone can easily be unlockerd to all networks by spending 50 rupees. You can easilt get such codes on eBay or grey market. Its not difficult. The difficult part is the shipping. U will have to deal with the exobitant shipping price along with the custom duties. Sometimes, u may not even get the phone due to customs and could be lost in the transit. Indian postal system ( including private couries) are very bad and they won't help u in tracking it once its lost in customs or in transite. To avoid this, you'll have to buy insurance which will cost you 15 pounds more. If you take a look at the total cost after so many hassles, it will come down to rs.12 k - rs. 13 k. Remember, the new models dont even have super smoled screem. The new screen is TFT which is inferior to super amoled. To add more tto this, it wont carry international warranty which means you will have to deal it urself is anything happens to your mobile phone. You cant even return it as the sellers selling these phones dont accept returns. Dell is a big brand and they know their business. This is the reason they have priced it at rs.16k. However, I do agree that the launch of LG optimus one and Motorola XT5 will affect their sales. I'm sure it will bring down the price by 2 - 3 k in the next 3 months.

Secondly, what they are selling is a pay-as-you-go phone, which means that this phone would be tied down to a contract of 1 or 2 years with Orange Telecom(therefore no other SIM can be used besides Orange), and there will be a monthly charge for this. And since we do not have Orange Service provider in India. There is no way the phone would be sold here.

This phone matches the exact specifications of Orange Sanfransisco and ZTE Blade. but when Orange Sanfransisco priced only about 100 pounds (less than 9000 rupees) how this DELL XCD priced around Rs.16000. Only advantage here is full new replacement warranty for one year. but a good phone available with other mid range android mobiles. Also think about LG Optimus One. it is the result of one full year research of LG.

Its so ridicules of Dell to re-brand a product and sell it 2 times the cost. Dell boasts about its 1 year replacement warranty, I mean, why not? They are anyways charging you twice the amount of ZTE Blade. Shame on Dell to do something like this!!!

It`s rebranded ZTE Blade (orange san franciso in Uk) . It is a great phone .Offers almost the same functions as an expensive phone like Samsung Galaxy, HTC Desire, etc.

It is in the top 5 best places Android . Cool phone at best price !
