Dual-core Exynos 5210 allegedly confirmed for Galaxy S4 mini

14 May, 2013

The Galaxy line of devices is on a roll as of late and doesn't look as if it needs a breather. After the Galaxy S4 hit the ground running we've heard of a water-resistant Galaxy S4 Activ a camera-based Galaxy S4 Zoom (that might have 10x zoom) and last but not least the Galaxy S4 mini.

We've heard quite a lot about the last of those. The Galaxy S4 mini should sport a 4.3" 540 x 960 pixel (qHD ~256 ppi) Super AMOLED, 8 MP camera, Android 4.2.2 and a dual-core 1.6 GHz processor. We've even seen some pictures.

We got word some time ago that Samsung may be developing a dual-core Exynos 5210 for the S4 mini and it looks like this information has been confirmed by Oled-Display.net.

The clock-speed is indeed stated at 1.6 GHz but there's no word on the architecture. However being a 5-series Exynos we can bet that it has two Cortex-A15s to do the heavy lifting.

A leaked screenshot from AnTuTu's benchmark shows alleged Galaxy S4 mini and Activ benchmark scores. Considering our tests gave the Galaxy S4 24700 points (Snapdragon 600) and 26000 (Exynos Octa) the Galaxy S4 Activ and mini didn't really shine. The Activ (I537) got 17600 points while the mini (I9195) scored just over 14000 points.

Keep in mind that these scores can either be preliminary (read not on final hardware/software) or fake altogether.
