DxOMark have published their in-depth review of the OnePlus 8 Pro camera giving it an overall score of 119, based on a 126 photo and 103 video. It squeezes-in just in front of the Galaxy S20+ at the 10th spot in DxO's rankings, beating the middle Samsung flagship on video but losing by a point in stills.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has an upgraded camera array, compared to its predecessor the 7T Pro. The main 48MP Quad-Bayer camera has a bigger sensor, the ultrawide camera has the same size 48MP senor as the 7T Pro's main camera, with the only retainer from the older phone being the 8MP 3x telephoto camera.

In their testing DxOMark found the OnePlus 8 Pro to be among the best in terms of white balance. Images from the OnePlus 8 Pro have pleasant and vivid colors, a good detail-to-noise ratio in the main camera and nicely detailed and colorful ultrawide angle results.

Where the OnePlus 8 Pro fell short of the absolute best cameraphones is dynamic range in challenging scenes - it managed better retained highlights than the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, but wasn't as good as the best-in-class Huawei P40 Pro.
