Epic Games Store launches on mobile

Michail, 16 August 2024

Just over four years ago, Fortnite was removed from the App Store and Google Play for trying to bypass Apple and Google’s payment systems for in-game purchases of its in-game currency V-Bucks. The game studio embarked on a long legal journey against Apple and Google which led us to today’s official launch of the Epic Games Store for iOS and Android.

Fortnite is officially back on mobile for Android users worldwide and iOS users in the EU. It is also joined by Rocket League Sideswipe and Fall Guys with the latter making its official debut on mobile. You’ll need an iPhone running iOS 17.6 while the system requirement for Android is Android 7.0 or later. The download file is 25MB. Epic confirmed Fortnite and Fall Guys feature full functionality and cross-platform account progression.

The tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition. We are grateful to the European Commission for making it possible to launch the Epic Games Store and offer our games to iOS users in the European Union. Now European iOS users and all Android users can access our store and games, as they've always been able to do on open platforms like PC and Mac. The fight is far from over, but this is tangible progress for developers and consumers who can begin to benefit from competition and choice.” - Tim Sweeney, Epic Games CEO and Founder

Epic Games’ mobile titles are also available on AltStore PAL starting today and will also arrive to the Aptoide Store for iOS and One Store on Android soon. Epic also plans to bring its games to more third-party app stores heading forward. Epic also plans to launch exclusive games for its mobile store.

They are actually losing money from what I heard but the profit they make from games and controllers or any accesories compesate the loss from consoles

Well, PC games even MAC can't, so...Apple all together "can't".

Are you all right? His point is that it's no longer sold out. Anyway, a product being sold out for a long period of time isn't a good thing. It's mismanagement not to have products readily available.
