According to a report by Business Insider, Facebook is working on a mobile app that delivers breaking news. The solution will allow the social networking giant to take on Twitter, which is a popular platform for following news.

Facebook’s product is reportedly in early testing and will allow users to follow various topics and receive breaking news from partnering media outlets. The latter will deliver instant notifications to all their followers the moment something newsworthy pops up.

The above mentioned alerts are said to contain up to one hundred characters of text and a link to the media’s website. Facebook has refused to comment on the subject.

I've always said that FB should work with authorities and bring in a system that's connected to missing child alerts (The Amber alert system in the US). Authorities could have access to send out "Amber alerts" and FB users in the 'tar...
